Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for a 62’ Carter fuel pump that’s on a 361 BB motor? The only place I’ve found is Mancini and I sent them a note to see if the kit they have will work on an early pump, but haven’t heard back yet? Are the rebuild kits very specific to application or...
Very good point Bob. I admittedly was not thinking in that level of detail. Makes sense that some tuning would be needed. Not sure I can grasp the need to adjust the timing curve tho?
Mine is the same as that 49226. I guess since the hole on the underside is 1/4” it wouldn’t accomplish anything go larger at the opening. I think after I rebuild this spare carb I’ll go ahead and punch it out and install a vacuum nipple. Thanks everybody!
Couple more questions. In this picture of a 3253s where the bunghole for the vacuum connection would be. The hole itself is around 1/2”. At the bottom of the hole is a divot that’s maybe 1/4”. If you were to drill the hole out to install a nipple would you drill it out to full size - or just the...
Thanks for the pictures. I see the correct valves are available at Mopar vendors but couldn't figure out where to get vacuum. That port in my current carb is closed off. I have another 3253s and it too has the port closed. I guess if I were to go ahead with changing over I’d have to drill out...
Does anyone have a diagram or know where the PCV valve got its vacuum from on a 62’ 361/4bbl. The carb for these was 3253s AFB but the only vacuum port on these was a small one for the distributor. Im thinking of putting a PCV setup on my car but can’t figure out what the OEM correct source was...
The electric primer pump might be the best option. Even after sitting a week I have to run the starter for a good minute to get going and I sure don’t want to have to remove the air cleaner and squirt fuel in all the time.
I thought about back syphoning through the filter but as noted above the inlet is above the bowl level. I use only the non ethanol 90 octane in the car but Of course it’s still going to evaporate. Its sounding like evaporation may be the problem? This is the first Carter I’ve had, don’t recall...
Have a Carter 3253s on my 361 bb. Noticed for some time that after the car sits for a week or so, it gets hard to start. Within a few day window it starts easily. I just pulled the carb off after the motor had not been run in a good month or more and there was no fuel in the bowel at all...
