1969 Coronet - Ol' Drippy

Well its been a while since I have updated. My project is moving forward and a little backwards . The weather in Alabama has been weird with tornadoes, hot weather, then very cold weather.

I have decided to go a different way with the dash. I have built a touch screen media system with raspberry pi. I will be also writing some code the automate a few other things with the car.

I picked up a small tig welder and trying to learn it. I have started plugging the trim holes .

The dash is just a mockup to get the measurements for now.

Well I have taking a hit to the speed of my work :icon_cry: I finally had to get back surgery so restoration has pretty much halted. While I am down I am still going to order and make plans for my next steps. I am 34 and the surgery was outpatient but wow I am in a ton of pain, hopefully the recovery is fast.

I finished my dash and my touchscreen setup for the most part. I still got to mount it and decide how i want to mount my usb extension for the pc. I created a local proxy so the pc will pull network connectivity off my phone.

I created a second console area in front of my gearshift that has the ignition, wiper, washer, flash, switches.

My next plan is the brake setup. I am on the fence of using dr. diff viper front or a wilwood front.

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in which master cylinders outside the bore sizes? I will be using a manual brake but there are many type of master cylinders out there. I am trying to find the best for the money and don't want to over spend.

I have also pulled out my rear lights and panel to fix a few rust areas. Testing out my new tig welder.

I am getting back to it after my back surgery. So far I have felt a lot better getting around. Just taking it slow and careful.

I cut out some of the tail panel around the tail light that had rust issues. I was able to tig weld a few panels in.WP_20160220_13_50_05_Pro.jpg

I also started stripping some of the paint on the rear of the car as I go. I just wanted to mention that I was using citrisstrip gel. Maybe people have used this before but after putting in on the car for about 15 minutes I was able to start removing paint with a razor. I have no clue why this picture has flipped upside down.

Finally got the rear panel repaired and went ahead and got it coated.

It started getting x-rated around the house. Stripping the entire car.

I am very surprised on the shape of the metal under the paint. I was worried on a few places but it was all original paint and no bondo spots.

Over the weekend I bought my next project. Not a MOPAR but should be fun.

Looking good, I hope the body of my Coronet looks that good... Though I'm sure it doesn't...

Also nice K5, I've loved those things for a long time. I've had 2, a buddy currently owns 3...

Well I have been at it on and off as weather permits.

I have pulled out the interior and the old ratty headliner. Tried to sand down and remove all the insulation I could.

scuffed up the interior and started coating the inside, roof, and package tray with Rust Bullet. I am trying to spray this in and really like it so far.

Temperately put on some of the body parts to see how they looked. Will be removing them again once I paint.

Slowly working on the car as time permits.

Was able to get the rear quarter panels situated. They will need a skim coat to smooth out more.

Went ahead and removed the doors and pained door jams, then started on some of the interior.

Slowly plugging away at it as weather permits.

Got the carpet pretty much installed and front seats put in.

The car has been coated with rustbullet. Next step will be to review all the panels making sure they are correct and flat. Then on to primer the car.

I also installed a a front swaybar, this car originally did not have one.
