I noticed that someone has removed the certicard from the engine bay.Clean up and don't lose your fender tag. There is a flat area on front of engine near intake there numbers there. Clean off dirt off those and take clear as possible pictures. On driver side of block there are casting date but first do the fender and pad.
Ok, Can anyone help me out with this question?

Is there a way to make sure this engine is correct for this car?
This is in a 1 owner, original ,1966 Coronet 440. Notice the holes in the hood,
It has 2 offset holes for dual carbs like the race Hemi would have and the chrome rocker covers. Does anyone know the production # of race hemi equipped cars for 1966?
It's sitting in my garage........ It was gifted to me by a friend, he passed away and wanted me to be the caretaker of his old race car. He special ordered the car in 1965 specifically for Super Stock drag racing. He is the only person to ever drive the car since it was delivered. Sorry but the car is not for sale. While youre nitpickin it ...........tell me where it is & Ill Buy It !
Mopar2ya!
I have heard of under the carpet, and in the headliner.Any idea where to look for the build sheet?
I've already looked under and behind the back seat and glovebox area.
Possibly on top of the fuel tank? anywhere else?
The original owner was very private about his car. All I know was he got very upset when he had his car in a real storage and someone stole some parts off the car.I have heard of under the carpet, and in the headliner.
And, as stated above, no original race hemi's in 1966. Not saying the original owner might have put a crossram on it. (No hemi scoops in 66 either).
Look the car over very carefully, take many pictures for future verification, get all the numbers you can find. Build sheets could be anywhere. I have found them under driver's side seat, behind rear seat, or under the bottom of the rear seat, taped to the top of the glovebox, under the carpet (most likely passenger's side rear). I personally have never found one in the headliner but that is a possibility too. There are casting numbers on the engine, as well as stamped numbers on the front pad. If the engine has been replaced with a later one there can be numbers stamped on the passenger's side front pan rail. Also sometimes on a Hemi numbers can be found by removing the starter. A casting number as well as a casting date will be on the block. Most of all take your time and look at everything and validate with pictures. The original owner was very private about his car. I know he said they stole the intake and carbs, not sure what else.
He moved from the city out to the country shortly there after and put the car in the old barn and that is where it has sat since the mid 1980's.After he found out that parts had been stolen from his car, he brought it home and had a lot of people trying to buy the car off of him and he got tired of telling people it wasn't for sale.
I know they didn't make any "Race Hemi's " in 1966, But from looking at what is there, It looks like it HAD a crossram on it at one time. And my main question about the valve covers was them being chrome, it was my understanding that the chrome valve covers only fit the race hemi heads. You can't interchange street hemi (Black wrinkle) and race hemi valve covers. the only time I have to work on the car is the weekends. My plan is to get out there this weekend and find the numbers on the block and try to locate the build sheet. I really do not know TOO much of the history of this car. But I would like to try to put the car back to as close to the way he had it when he raced the car. Just trying to figure out what he might have had on the engine. Any help is greatly apperciated.
