I want to replace the gasket between the car and the taillight assembly but I can't figure out how to remove it. I feel dopey but I'm stumped. I've also read that it's easy to remove the taillight bulbs without removing the assembly but I don't see how. Wires go into a hole in the metal case but that hole is too small to use for removing the bulbs. I'd appreciate the help and wouldn't even mind some smart aleck comments about me not figuring this out.

got it.

Well, I think I have it sorted out. I just need to pull harder on everything!

a service manual would be your best friend here....don't forget the 2 nuts on each side just outside of the vertical brace.....and if & when you get all yer nuts off....it will still remain stuck to the car because of the gasket & goop they put on to keep water out
