"The Cobra 289 was bored to 425 cid ". Well then the cylinder walls look an awful lot like water.... Whats printed on that "Spec Sheet" is fantasy..... Sorry George Barris built show cars, his cars rarely ran & when they did what you saw wasn't what you got.... Yes the carbs are real, they just aren't functional...

It’s a Ford. I couldn’t care less. Just put up a link.:D

Just saw this. This one has a Dana rear!

The guy says it has 10 Carter carbs. It sounds like they need tuning.

The Koach I drove had a standard 289 4bbl with a Cobra Oval aircleaner. And 8 stick on stacks. Mark L of Group Promotions Allowed me to drive the Koach and Monkey Mobile on to the trailer on a Sunday evening after the World of Wheels was over. I have no idea if they were the Original cars. But it was a awesome experience for me back in the 80s . Something Ill never forget.

So will Rob Zombie include any of the cars into his movie

In the 1965 episode of The Munsters, titled "Hot Rod Herman," Herman Munster loses the iconic Koach vehicle during a bet. This prompts Grandpa Munster to build his own roadster, which he dubs the Drag-u-la, in an effort to win back the Koach. Herman then dons the "Punk Rods" jacket during the episode. It's clear that the entire episode left a huge impact on Zombie, which he would later feature in various ways throughout his many works. For instance, the episode is played during Zombie's first movie House of 1000 Corpses as an Easter egg. Additionally, the heavy metal musician's hit song "Dragula" is directly inspired by the Drag-u-la vehicle built by Grandpa Munster.

I do like the Revel Models :poke:
the Dragula was cool, better built than the org. coach IMO

from a distance the coach was cool, it was at best a 20 footer

who knows which "Munsters" coach is being talked about

lost of fakes & clones or tributes out there
that are far better than what Barris Kustoms ever built

yep being a George Barris car
lots of sleight of hand going on
lots of silicone & stick glue holding **** in place or together
he used lots of household stuff to build his
"screen cars/movie cars"

he used 5-gallon buckets
to make them appear like afterburners on the Batmobile

the org. Munsters Coach car ran on the series
it didn't look the same as some of the recreations out there
black & white film doesn't do some of the **** justice
can hide a multitude of hackery too

I saw somewhere they had like 3 (IIRC) different ones
from Barris Customs (Kustoms)
one was a 'hero car' for close ups only, barely could move on it's own
another that was 'more driveable', not as well finished, at all
another that was just stationary, static display, for show only

also the sound was dubbed on the TV show

I saw the Org. or what was claimed to be the 'hero car'
"alleged" George Barris Built (his cronies actually built them)
from the org. Munsters series at the Oakland Roadster show
in like 1978-ish (maybe 1980)
it was driven out, it sounded like crap
(like a worn-out stock 2bbl 260/289cid, with a huge exhaust leak,
choked down & not very well tuned, certainly not some "alleged"
bored out & stroked 425cid race engine
)
it didn't have all the exhaust or the carbs hooked up & functional
most of it was for show, lipstick on a pig
fake pipes brass covers over a cast iron manifold going under it
& fake induction covers (real carb not hooked up) over the actual parts,
carb it was running on, was under the center finned cover

there's several different versions of Barris's "alleged" cars

Eddy Munsters 'dragula' is a clone too, albeit, pretty darn cool

Wow. Seems like an awful lot of contempt for George Barris.

The man is an icon.

That everyone on here has heard of him confirms it.

If you see Barris as an Icon you don't know much about Barris... He's a salesman/hustler but he did none of the actual work & his cars were made to be flashy but not by any means finished to a high level...

I get it. You don’t like him. But the guy is an icon.

I think he did do work on them in his earlier years
&
Yep I don't have contempt for the guy, at all
just tell it 'as like', I see em'

you really need to look at some of his builds close up
you will see
Like I did, a lot of less than desirable build methods
especially for his more famous on TV or on screen Movie cars

he's a 10,000,000 more times famous or an Icon
then I am (infamous :poke: )

The Batmobile wasn't even his build originally
he took a known show winning concept car & modified it
to make the Batmobile

1955 Lincoln Futura

some called it 'lipstick on a pig'
as to the building style
(not my saying, the real car builders referred to 'builds like that')
that sold for $5.5 Million at BJ a few years ago

I have no ill will towards the guy at all
just don't sugar coat it, spin it & call it what it isn't

hell we have a few guys here that torch
or use negative comments or hate on, call them butchers etc.
(because they don't like rubberband tires or lowered cars or color selections)
Foose & Troy too
2 of the best & most coveted & awarded
Ridler & Great 8 builds/winners
or best appearing Roadster etc.
some of the most truly talented custom builders in history
all voted on by their peers/contemporaries
& 'real quality professional custom builders' of today

to each their own

you don't like it, don't read it
it's the truth, not everyone has to like it
the truth stings sometimes

Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth was a real Icon/Customiser too
lots didn't like his style
He's one of the all-time best, IMO for his Era

And then theres the Green Hornet's "Black Beauty". Built by Dean Jeffries but Barris claimed he built it... Eventually the whole story came out that Barris "Restored" the car... But he still claims he was responsible for final customizing of the car which Dean denied..

That Futura was just plain Cool. It was nice to see Barris save it from its demize. I like the Batmobile. .

nobody thinking, what happens if the diff goes while I'm driving it?:poke:

yeah especially an older banjo-style rear end,
not the strongest cases

old' early FE dragster had to straddle the rears too
that took 'real balls' (hopefully none for real)

my F/C chassis & 23 T AA/A you sort of laid over it
your lower back in sort of a curved seat, maybe 1/2 padded
with a SFI 5/20 firesuit boots arm restraints
sock in the helmet etc.
just because the trans was inside the cockpit with you
& you had an armored/litterally bulletproof protector,
5" tube that housed a solid driveshaft with locking couplers
going between your legs

it's not for the weary
