Another one of my favorites, great for home defense but not much else.

So not really home defense but If the situation arises it could be I built this thing for 1000 yard shots ar 10 a real bull barrel too! I bought the wrong scope rings so that's why scope isn't on it yet . Should be fun ! .308

I still haven't bought my rifle, but my wife has an AR-15 that chambers .223 or 5.56.
I was looking at a AR based .458 SOCOM, and someone at a local gun shop suggested the AR-10 .308/7.62
Ultimately I have decided on a SBR/"pistol" which I will have to get a federal tax stamp for a silencer and the caliber is going to be 300 Blackout. AR-15 platform with subsonic rounds that cycles great because of the pistol length gas system, has the projectile of the .308/7.62 but the cartridge of a .223/5.56. Good for home defense and anything out to appx 300 yards, and deadly quiet. Great hog rifle! I can change out the upper to .223/5.56 and share ammo with my wife in case the Zombie hoard is too massive and I run out of 300 BLK
