Is it ok to leave the pump push rod out of the motor? Does it plug any oil passages, or does it get oil pump pressure? Using an electric pump, so don't need the push rod. Just want make sure it's ok to leave it out. Anyone ever done this before?

You're okay to leave it out Gary, that area inside is all open to oil floating around, not under pressure... kind of hard to see in this pic but the area between the outside wall of the block and the hole where the push rod goes in to meet the cam, is just the outer area where the timing gears and chain are. Throw a block off plate on there and call it good..

Nothing to worry about - they don’t do anything but push on that fuel pump. Pulled mine couple of years ago. No issues.

I took my fuel pump rod out over 30 yrs. ago and has never caused a problem.
