Small Block Mopar Purple Cam Questions

Hey everyone. I am looking to try an identify a purple cam specs. I am building an engine and a guy I work with was like I got some parts you might want. Anyways he brought me a purple cam from his old 340 engine. He had swapped it out years ago and now that engine is gone and he has a 392 in his 70 challenger. I also got some 273 adjustable rockers that he had laying in the attic. We are building a 318 for lemons and really want to stay below 5500 to have less stress on the engine. Is there a way to get the grind off he number in the back?

I don't think that # will tell you anything.
What you can do: measure lobe height & then across the lobe. Subtract the reading & that gives the lobe lift. Multiply by 1.5 to give you the valve lift, which is what Chr used in their specs. Check in a MP catalog for that valve lift.

Note: the above measurement method can be a few thou out, so factor that in when looking at cam specs.
