Since there are only seven days a week, and they are already being used up, it's time for a double-up on the days.

Show us your sneaky or clever moments when a part you needed wasn't available - or is made of unobtanium. Doesn't have to be big or expensive..... show us your ingenuity skills here....maybe you'll get other folk copying your ideas.

I'll start off with something simple that I came up with myself....and a mere 3 months after doing this I saw that Chip Foose did the same thing on Overhaulin' to the silver A100....back in 2010 when it first aired here. I used the fill neck from an Australian Valiant, and a Dodge Charger fill cap set from Classic Industries....along with a kajillion dollars' worth of panel work....

Here's another little thing I added....for a mere fitty cents......

The original concave discs were a little bit damaged, so I found some quarters....and they fit perfectly in the recess....just a little urethane, and bam.

....of course a 1968 quarter would be better.

Instead of quarters I used beer bottle caps (your favorite brand) on my '64 Polara 500. Same shifter knob as yours. :drinks:

Not a Mopar.... But I too changed the fuel filler on one of my cars...

Common problem, fuel pours out of the filler & stains the paint....

My solution...

Sorry my response isn't Mopar oriented, but the GTX is stock appearing, so it doesn't allow for much creativity. My '58 Apache on the other hand was destined to be a mild custom. I sketched up a design for my machinist brother-in-law. He made these one-of-a-kind bullet bed rail caps to match the modified '58 taillights. I spend a lot of time on minor details that a casual observer won't even notice. None of the stuff is groundbreaking, but it gives me an outlet for creative urges...

Homemade instrument cluster and tach mount. On the lower left is a speaker grille formed with a wooden buck.

I made the door panels using trim pieces from a Mustang "Pony Car" interior. There's a '63 Chevy crossed flag fender emblem on the right side of the dash just to break things up a little. On the fenders are some mid 60's Turbo Jet 454 flags and you may have noticed the Bowtie emblem on the tailgate which is from a '55. Oddly enough, the grille is the only place on the truck that says Chevrolet.

A 68 quarter may get stolen, just because it has some silver in it.

Hmmm.....
Cool!

Are they reproducing those or you gotta buy used? That’s cool as hell.
Hurst used to sell them over the counter. These are not the ones that came in the 1984 Hurst Olds. Those are for a four speed automatic transmission. These are for a three speed automatic transmission. Hurst discontinued them years ago.

Two small details on my 65 Belvedere dash. Some of the factory switches were no longer needed and rather than weld up the holes, I used a cut down kitchen drawer handle to make a cover. I also wanted a discrete place to mount switches for stuff like the fuel pump, line lock, cooling fans so these are tucked away in the ash tray.
