Where do i find lighter/softer springs or hinges?
Or can i just remove the original springs?

I have a glass hood for my 66 Belvedere and went to the hard ware store and bought 2 or 3 sets of springs and tried the lightest ones first and iirc, they did the trick and took the others back.

Yeah, it's a bit complicated but if you look over the pages good you should be able to accomplish it.
