I have read for years that the VIN shows up in 5 places on the 1970 cars.
Fender tag.
Dash VIN tag.
Trunk rain gutter lip on left side.
Top of radiator core support.
Drivers door
My '70 XP has the door decal, the VIN tag on the dash but I lost the fender tag years ago. I can't feel it in the trunk and I'm not going to peel up the weatherstrip to find it. It isn't on the top of the core support either.
I wondered if the car had been wrecked and repaired with different panels but it looks all original. No plug welds, no seam welds, no wrinkled panels.
I looked at another 1970 core support and found some numbers that are also not on top of the support but instead on the vertical section facing the front side of the top tank of the radiator.
I looked at my XP car and they were there. THAT was a relief!
Was this a change for 1970? I have a '68 core support that I'm using to repair another car and it has the VIN stamping on top where I have seen them before.
