...at a local car museum.[Stahl's] It's a world-class collection of vintage cars, mostly oddities/rarities from the brass era to the 50's. Just some amazing vintage iron. It was a walking-dinner/cocktails event, with amazing food, complete valet, wait-staff, and state politicians, and Generals[Air Force and Marines] from Selfridge ANG. It started at 6PM, and was over by 9:15. It was a splendid event, and netted over 120K, for disabled Vets. My wife, my buddy, and I laughed our asses off. I also took my roadrunner for probably the last ride of the season.

Oh, there was entertainment too. Jay walked around and rubbed shoulders, and did a routine for 1 1/2 hours. What a great night. It was only 5 minutes from our home.

That's really cool. A great event with an even greater outcome. I've always liked Jay, ever since he retired he looks like he's about half shot all the time. I'd probably have that look also if I had the collection that he has.

His people were saying for this Veteran's Day weekend, he's running like Trump was.[well, almost]

It was funny. When I got the first picture with him inside, I told him I was a muscle-car guy. He smiled and said he should have brought his 66 hemi Coronet. I told him I brought my 68 hemi roadrunner. His eyes got big, and said...Really? I asked if he wanted to see it, and he said sure, after the gig. He really liked that it was a bare-bones, post car. We took a couple pics, and his Escalade and the police escort bolted off. He was very cool, and I got the only pics taken of an attendee's car with him.

That is very cool. He always seems like a down to earth nice guy to have around.

Cool night for you Missile - jay is definitely cool too. Even more so - goo for the vets!

Awesome MM! Wonderful cause and a fantastic amount raised for disabled vets!

They introduced Jay behind a curtain with an engine revving. The curtain dropped, and Jay was in a polished aluminum Cobra. When he got out...he shocked Mr. Stahl[owner of museum], buy telling him he would donate 5K of his money...if he could enter/sit-in the Cobra. Mr. Stahl is an older/larger gentleman. The crowd cheered/jeered him into the Cobra, and he didn't look comfy. Jay was laughing, then announced he'd donate another 5K to get-out. The place was roaring. It was a fun night.

If you're in Metro-Detroit, a stop at the Stahl Museum is a must-do. It full of antique wonders, as well as the cars. You should definitely call ahead, as they had very short and odd hours. It's more of a collection, than museum....and is shared with the public. Fortunately, I only live 5 minutes away.

This car had me mesmerized with the art-deco flair.[LaSalle?]

How about a Pierce-Arrow camper?

...and a Packard to pull it?

The place has a Tucker[looks like F8 green] and endless roadsters, like Cords, Auburns, and cars you've never heard of. Jay was even in awe of the rarity of some cars he hadn't seen. I'd say there's about 80 vehicles in there. There's even real stage-coaches.

Today is open to the public, and a huge Veteran's gig is scheduled. I hope a ton more money is donated towards the cause. I'm heading up in a bit.

mmissile that must have been cool as hell,

Jay's cool about showing his collection to TV shows for historical purposes. Some of his stuff may be found nowhere else
