I bought a 1971 Steering wheel for my RR, problem is the steering wheel says Dodge. Couldn't find a steering wheel with word Plymouth on it as in the attached picture. I found a few online, but the rear retention clips were broken off.

Does anyone have one they are willing to sell? If you are, send me a PM.

you can also pull out the center finish from the one with the broken pin and install it on the wheel you have with the Dodge lettering. That's a chromed layer stickied to the center plastic piece

needs to be made with care but is doable. You can try it on the Dodge one you have at this moment. I think some glue solvent like gasoil or gasoline will help to get softened the glue while prying it up... or a heat gun?

( actually this center trim is in AWESOME conditions but the broken pin )

Maybe the pin is "rebuildable" somehow

I looked at those on EBay previously. Perhaps I can remove the dodge portion and swap with the Plymouth portion, never thought of that. Thank you

Being you actually need the Plymouth one, you can also simply BREAK the black plastic section from the ebay one with the pin broken ( you won't be using it anyway ) removing piece by piece while keeping safe the center layer trim ( maybe a cut disc and dremmel will help to cut the piece on sections ), and pry up the Dodge one without any care from the wheel you have... althought if you get it out in good conditions, can get some investment back trying to sell it for those don't like the decal option offered.

just thinking out loud

I have an NOS Plymouth one in the box I'd sell but has a chip in the corner.

If its a roadrunner shouldn't it have the Roadrunner medallion insert in it like this one? Plymouth insert should be for Satellite.

that one in your pic is for a Road Runner
the other one goes for a satellite, gtx or a station wagon

I am thoroughly confused now. I have upper left steering wheel in your brochure picture, on my shelf. I have the lower left pictured steering wheel on my car, and I just bought the upper middle pictured steering wheel. If I have a 71 RR, which wheel is the actual one? I was under the impression the middle upper center pictured steering wheel with the Plymouth wording in the middle of it was the correct wheel.......

If the steering wheel in the pic is yours, are you willing to sell? I seemingly have three other versions of the 71 B body steering wheel, but not the correct one

So looking up the steering wheel in your pic, I am probably wrong, however, the hard pad with center RR emblem was for mid year 1969 three spoke steering wheels. Perhaps someone can shed some better light on this

Do you know why that these are so common to have broken mounting tabs? Because people don't have PATIENCE!!

You need a heat gun or blow dryer and WD-40. Heat up the plastic with care not to get it too hot and damage the wood grain insert. Slightly pry up on the end and take a WD-40 can with a snorkel straw and drench accordingly. Take your time using a stiff plastic putty knife (same as the door panel tools) prying it slowly. First one's always the toughest. I removed at least a half dozen of these w/o breaking one tab.

That's 40+ y/o hard plastic there. Plus the metal clip being very dry and maybe some rust spots. No wonder these break upon being pried out w/o precautions.

Tip: Use the eBay listing pics to gauge where the mounting tabs are located to give you an ideal where to pry instead of doing it blind. Below is a close-up of one of the mounting tabs/clips. I do not have this steering wheel center anymore as I already sold it.

The steering wheel the guy posted in the first picture , is the one you want for your car, you just pop the center out and put in the plymouth center piece, same as mine, all 71 gtx say plymouth in the steering wheels, options

if you are not sure, the only way to truly know what came originally on your car
is if you have a broadcast sheet to read the steering wheel code off of
there were many different wheels that came on them..
