66/67 Belvedere, Satellite, GTX Quarter Panel Survey

If we came up with 25-30 VERY serious buyers who all would want a pair of left and right lower quarter patches, and these folks were willing to let us know just how serious they were($$$$), it's very possible we can get something going.

I think we already have the interest here (aka, serious buyers). I'm sure a handful of people have been through this thread, read it, and figured "well no one is ever going to make full quarters for '66-'67 Plymouths, so why bother". You lost my dad's business already since he had to buy patch panels and have the rest hand built. Wonder how many more have to settle for less than ideal.

Oh, and by the way Rick, we're not talking about lower quarter patches either, like you mentioned. Those are already available.....

I mentioned that I would go for a set of rear quarters some time back! I am still interested. I am going to put off replacing the quarters with what is out there. It is piece meal at best. I will drive my car when I get this leak at the oil filter fixed and not care about what the quarters look like. It will be just my beater/driver that looks like s--t. But, I will enjoy it none the less. It will be a really classy hard driving hot rod. If the panels come out, then I will take the car back down completely and make it a beaut again. Until then, I drive it. Come AMD, let's do it!

Our stateside metal stamper does not have the machinery required to make complete factory style full quarter panels that go up to the "C" pillar. We could only do lower quarter patches that would be approx. 65"-70" long and approx. 18"-24" from the bottom edge up.

I just tried to order the long patch panel here in Can. from the main company called Cross Canada parts and they don,t have any anywhere in Can.

I used AMD rear lower and cut a section of wheel arch from a 4 door donor...

67 plymouth rear quarters

Has anybody used the Motor City stampings? I just bought a donor car and the guy through in right and left lower quarter panels. The car is a four door, but I may use the quarter off of the one side beings it is in good condition, but would be forced to use the stamped panel on the other side.

My steels all good but i emailed them anyway, told them i need rear quarters and a left front fender just to support the 67 gtx/ belvedere clanMY GTX.jpg

Until there are reproductions available I have a nice set of fenders and quarters from a 4 door I will sell. Nice deck lid and hood as well as other parts too.
Just FYI, The skeleton from the cowl forward is the same on the 66-67 as the one in the 68-70. I figure thats why inner fenders are available.
Even though it is a pain sometimes, I like the fact that many parts are not being reproduced. If they made everything repop, our Mopars would be as common as old Chevys and rustangs. Keep em rare I say.

I need the wheel well lip section like posted up above here from 2quick if you would like to sell the 2 sections

So what you are saying is simple: these B bodies parts are too long and too tall for your existing stamping machinery? That is why it would be so much more expensive to retool for this body part. AND, that is why we have already on the market the many pieces that ARE available that we have to use to piece our quarters together? Okay. Now, I as an engineer can understand your dilemma. That is really what we need to know.

So, for my car, probably like many others out there, what is really needed is the part from the taillight housing to as far forward as you can get it. Upwards as high as is the most comfortable and best to patch in would work. Then one smaller piece that would cover the front to the door and maybe some of the rocker? That is the worse case scenario for my car to bring it back to its former beauty. That is still better than the alternative we have now in my opinion.

I called Motor City about their panels for my dad's '66 Satellite and they said "they aren't restoration quality, thinner than the factory sheet metal. They're cheesy." I didn't even ask why they would sell them if they felt they were no good, didn't think the answer I'd get would make sense. They are Sherman panels by the way.

Yeah Warpspeed, I understand too to a degree. What I don't understand though is you can get full quarters for other models, but it's not "do-able" for the '66-'67s. The replacement quarters would need to go from quarter extension forward to approximately 3-4 inches in front of rear tire, then from bottom up to above 1st body line, at a minimum. I know there are partial patches out there, but you can't even get the portion that goes over the wheel well, which from my experience on these cars is the most important area to have replacements for, along with area behind tire......

I own a 56' Belair. The body parts for these were the red headed step child, of the 55' and 57' Chevy's. You can now buy a complete 55'/57' sedan body. 57' convertible as well as a hard top. The front fender for the 56' just came out, and while there is a quarter panel, other, have told me the fit is really bad. If I recall, the 56' out produced both of the other two years. These parts are made by "Gold Star", an Asian company. They really have been good to us, in the trifive community. It comes down to popularity in the repo market. In the sixties, the trifives, were one of the most popular second car for families.

Rick, Beggars can't be choosers.....I need two pair, make it happen!!!!

Hey all,
I NEED BOTH FULL QUARTERS! I just inherited my 67 GTX from my father who purchased it new. It is in amazing condition, but has rot on both rear quarters. I need these to make this car 100% again. THANKS!!

Need both right and left FULL quarter panels for my 67 GTX, have been holding back on restoring until they are reproduced as i do not want to piece together patched panels (have already done that).

I am sure if there was a reputable established reproduction company that did an initial poll for commitment from the 66 /67 crowd, and then if feasible, a commitment of a deposit for new stamped quarters, they may be suprised at the response.

I have decent 1/4's off donor cars that i have purchased years ago, they need trim holes and a few pinholes welded up to make work, but have decided to wait until repops are finally available instead before full restoration.

I have talked with tons of 66/67 B body owners through the years that express the need for 1/4's themselves, and am quite suprised nobody has stepped up with these yet .... it seems like a LOT of people are needing them .... and waiting : (

I usually search about once a month for many years now looking for good 1/4's , and this is first time i have come across this site ... and thread. I think if a poll WAS put out, and the word got around, sheet metal companies might be suprised at the response (and commitment) this would generate.

With over 8500 views on this thread, i would think there is at least a 'little' interest!

Sign me up for a left and a right.... and where to send my $deposit !! ; )

We are still monitoring this thread to guage interest..........

Rick
Rick if it matters I need right and left quarters for my '67 GTX and don't want to cobble things together. Aftermarket panels would be awfully nice.

The Stamping companies are all located in Tiawan. In the same areas where all the glass comes from. Nobody is making any parts in the US for repop. Everything comes from Tiawan.

Not everything!!!!

As far as sheetmetal goes...our patch panels for the 64-65 Barracuda, inner splash shields for the early A-body, inner splash shields for the 67-69 Barracuda, 67-69 Barracuda rear valance panels, lower quarter patch panels for the 66 Valiant/Cuda, and lower fender patches are ALL stamped out here stateside in the USA.
