383 dual point distributor

I was poking around one of my project cars (66 coronet 500) that came with a 68 383. I see it has a dual point in it..
What would that have come in? Super bee 4 spd?

Years ago, I had a friend who owned a 1966 Coronet 500 with a 383, 4 BBL., 4-speed. It had a factory dual point distributor in it. I am pretty sure 4-speed '68-'69 RoadRunner and SuperBee 383 engines came with them,too.

Years ago, I had a friend who owned a 1966 Coronet 500 with a 383, 4 BBL., 4-speed. It had a factory dual point distributor in it. I am pretty sure 4-speed '68-'69 RoadRunner and SuperBee 383 engines came with them,too.
Every 68-70 I had was single points.
 
Well conflicted information. What years and models 383 had dual point dizzy? Part numbers would be awesome

I see you're using Standard Motor Products "Blue Streak XP" points.....great combination. The Blue Streak XP have the red felt wiper, secondary copper conductor and the largest ventilated points on the market. Use the same on my origional Prestolite dual point distributor in the GTX. The tension spring will go to 6500 RPM. Beats the MSD ......reliable and inexpensive to re point. ...stay away from the electronic stuff Just recurve it to get it all in by 2400 - 2600 RPM.....parts still available......just my opinion of course.....

A friend of mine had a 1966 Coronet 500 with 383/4-speed. It had a factory cast iron dual point distributor in it. I thought that 4-speed cars got them, while automatics got the aluminum single point piece.

Thanks Bob. They're likely worn out, where can you get those now a days? Or can you?

I wouldn't be surprised, chryco wasn't cheaping out quite yet. This car is a 383-4 automatic, and the motor is a 68 2bbl. And then the dual point. Maybe tomorrow I'll make it a "point" to check the numbers..

My 383 Bee is a single, don't ever remember throwing a dual point away in the past 47 years it's been mine and Dad didn't work on it before that..
