so I have a 470 low deck short block with flat top pistons[11.4@78cc},is it possible to get 650 hp with heads and cam or do I need more comp.? I have victor 383,m1 intakes suggestions welcome, thanks,Sam.

The real question is what heads and cam, right? Not, "is it possible?".

Here is a dyno run from 2011. It's a 451 stroker with 9.7:1 compression and ported 906 iron heads.

And the same short block in 2009 with 11.3 compression and ported Edelbrock RPM heads.

....................906 iron..............Edelbrock RPM
RPM...............TQ/HP....................TQ/HP
3500............452/301..................503/335
4000............485/369..................519/395
4500............506/433..................555/476
5000............511/486..................585/556
5500............497/521..................585/625
6000............537/614..................599/684
6100.........................................604/702........max TQ
6400............544/662...max tq.....585/712
6900............526/690...max hp.....583/766
7200.........................................574/787........max HP

It would seem to be possible.

that is good info,my short block has main studs and girdle but I would like to keep revs around 6500.It will be going in my 3350lb 63 belvedere foot brake car.also have Harland and crane 1.5 roller rockers to choose from.Do you sell head and cam combos? If si I would like a quote on them, thanks,Sam.

Is this a build in progress or is it already together and running? If it's already together, what's on it and what does it do now? Had a similar weight car with a stock stroke 440, ported 906 heads (flowed the same as out of the box Eddy RPM but the RPM would probably preform better), .660 lift Isky roller. HP according to weight, ET, MPH, it was producing just under 550 hp. Based on 1.25 hp per cu in, it should be very close to 580 hp. Mine was done back in the early 80's and I would hope 1.5 hp per cu in would be easy enough so imo, 650 should be well within reach with decent heads, cam, induction and exhaust. And if it were me, I'd be prone to sticking a TR on that puppy. In fact, I've been collecting parts for just a build but only mine will be a stock stroke 400. :D

the motor is a build in progress,car went 10.90 with a 440 and eddy heads .550ish flat tappet cam.I do also have 2"headman hustler headers.850 quick fuel,950 e-85 carbs.not a fan of TR's.thanks,Sam.

Is this car race only or is it going to be driven on the street?

Do you have a hood clearance issue? Both the Victor and M1 manifolds should be worked.
