The manual says SAE 90 but O'Reilly's says 75W-90?

Could be because O'Reilly's does not sell straight 90 weight gear oil these days. The 75W-90 should be just fine. Wouldn't take hardly any time to for the oil to warm up to where the 75 weight was a non-player anyway.

Just plain old 80-90.

Like this? On eBay for half the price of O'Reilly's Lucas Synthetic.

Will O'Reilly repair the transmission based on their recommendations? .....probably not....they recommend what they sell based on margin. How about 000 (triple 0) a semi-fluid semi-solid used on heavily loaded slow turning open gear trane if you're worried about temperature.

That's catching on now.

You need to talk with an older guy at any Parts Store.....not the spotty-faced teenager playing with his cellphone.

I was looking at the website.

I've seen older guys at the O'Reilly's, but I rarely see the same person twice.

I ordered the UltraPlus stuff above.

Don't forget the friction
modifier for that sure-grip.
Some brands claim to
have it already blended
in but I wouldn't trust
that they take in to
consideration, requirements
for older differentials. It
won't hurt to add an ounce
or two.

No Suregrip - looked into it, but the pre-97 8 1/4 isn't worth building.
