headrest install on bucket seat 68 Charger

Hi,
Does anyone know how do you go about installing headrests on a non headrest bucket seat in an 68 Charger.

Will it be enough removing the back plate of the seat to do the job.
I have the headrests and also the mounting kit

if you are carefull and measure correctly you might get it done , but it would be much easier of an install and correct to take the seat skin off ,

So I did it,
You have to take EVERYTHING off, the vinyl and the foam. It will else not be possible. The headrest set and mounting kit from PG Classic (www.moparplus.com) just fits perfect and is very easy to install.All holes are already drilled in the metal seat form.

they are pretty easy and self explanitory once you get the seat cover off

im getting ready to do it to a bench seat same hardware though

well this thread got me motivated and yesterday in this 106 degree heat ( what a dummy ) I got out and decide to complete this project


My car when i got in in 1984 had high back 70 buckets in it
so when i had it painted in 95. I purchased a 68 bench out of a superbee and i recovered then my self , this was my first recover project and it wasnt tough but you can tell it was my first attempt LOL . So now 17 years later making them correct for 69 they needed the head rests . Bought the green ones here on this site for 100.00 ( very cheap ) with all the hardware . The interior dye worked great . Today was the day to finally do it

Started by taking the driverside section of the bench seat back off , didnt even have to take the whole seat out of the car just the back . Then i took it inside out of the heat , A/C made the project doable.

that stud the beach slide in at the middle/split has a little hook to it , and it was really stubborn to come off . It made it tougher being in the car .
