Hi everyone

I'm from Darwin in North Australia. It's fairly isolated, and a long way from any other major towns. Think thousands of miles away!!!

I am the new owner of a 1969 Newport. I also have a 1981 Australian Chrysler. Until recently I also had a 392 SRT. I am not sure if that qualifies as being a Chrysler enthusiast...and I'm not sure if it's offensive to mention vehicles manufactured after 1979!!!

I was also hoping to make some contacts and learn about some events for a road trip in the US. No doubt some guidance about parts would be helpful in the future. I am not sure how many Chrysler Newports are in Australia, but I have only seen one other example!!!

I have added a photo of my vehicles - and I look forward to catching up with some of you in the future...

Dan

You have a nice stable of cars Dan. Welcome from New Zealand.

I had a couple of flatmates in London back in '90-'94 who came from Darwin. A third one joined us for a while....good times.

Welcome from a short swim north east of you on the central coast of Cal.

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario, Canada. Thanks for the pictures of your collection. That big old Newport would be just the ticket for a road trip. Nice comfortable cruiser, with 2.76 gears. A member of my local Mopar club has one of these convertibles. I would suggest the Route 66 tour, or a trip to the Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle, Pa.

Thanks for your welcome and your suggestions... they are great ideas that I'll look into. I only learned (well after I bought it) that the Chrysler SRT that I owned until recently was manufactured in Canada... I just presumed that all North American Chrysler's were manufactured in the US...

All the last generation of Chrysler, Charger, Magnum, and Challenger were made at Brampton, on the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario, about 2 hours drive from where I live. I used to have a Dodge Magnum R/T station wagon with 5.7 Hemi. These cars were sold in the U.K., with a Chrysler front clip on them, as the Chrysler Estate. I don't know whether any made it to Australia this way. The Magnum was only made from 2005-2008. Never a huge seller, they were discontinued to make line time for the better selling Challenger.

Welcome from Central California, Sounds like you are in the early stage of planning a great trip, Should be a blast!! No idea what you timing is but early in the year is the MATS show in Las Vegas in mid March and the Spring Fling show in Van Nuys in mid April, both are worth attending Or as previously mentioned the huge Chryslers at Carlisle show in Hersey Pennsylvania in early July.... As well as hundreds of other smaller shows all across the US...

Whatever you decide have a great trip, try to slow down & enjoy yourself.. It can be hard with so much to go see to slow down and truly experience what's in front of you...

Welcome, oh ye in a far off land ! Well, actually from your perspective, I'm in a far-off land. All kidding aside, those cars you have are superb ! That Newport is a beauty, and your Aussie Chrysler is sweet, what's the model name for it ?
