Whats the car weigh ? Nox , supercharger ? Ron

Are you guys running for compression and fuel?

I have 10.6 comp in my stroked 440 with aluminum heads and .046 quench. It runs fine on 92 pump with 38 total timing and no ping at all. Ron

I have 13 - 13.5 to 1 compression. Last weekend I ran 93 octane with no noticable ping.
As a matter of fact, it ran well enough that I couldn't keep the tires from spinning on launch to save my ***! They continued to blister after shifting into second gear as well with the rear drifting sideways! I cant keep it to the floor yet, much past getting into second gear.... :( !
I have ran Av-Gas too, and it did make a noticable differance in NO run on when shutting off the ign after engine warm up. I also like the smell,,,,, HE, HE!!!
I think I better at least mix 50/50 or 75/25 Av-gas to highest pump octane from here on out!

Nice

440 bored 30 over with a eagle stroker assy.4.350x4.150=493 cu,12.5 75cc forged flat top pistons, edlebrock victor 440 heads, crane rollerized solid cam with 650 lift with a total duration 316,edelbrock 440 intake with a holley 950cfm.That about sums her up,what the hell she is only money.

cam383 Congrats...Looks like a well running, dependable combo...

Sounds like a good combo, too many forget the car & trans when doing a build & focus too much on the engine, sounds like you have it all covered...

I hope so... LOL!
Everything is off the shelf stuff, so nothing secret in mine. I think the 600 + actual lift "after lash", New Modern head design utilizing the raised exhaust ports and getting rid of the pinch points in the runners for big flow, large valves, and lots of compresion is the key to my HP. The trick will be to get the car working together with the engine and launching at the correct RPM for max power and still retain traction. Anything else in my engine is for durability. The high strength H-Beam rods, steel crank, forged pistons, and main stud girdle are what I had choosen so I could be comfortable reving to 6500 rpm any time I decide, and maybe 7000 rpm on occasion.

I feel a little sheepish just seeing this but had to say, It very well may be "off the shelf stuff" But whoever is doing it has to know how to use it to get the most from it, and you guys seem more then capable. I couldn't do it ive said before im no engine builder.. I have a 73 400 here im gathering parts for, last i just got is an intake but once i get everything i have to find someone who can make it work for me! Ill just have to keep watching here, ive learned a lot from all you guys. Building it wont be me though!

Well, I guess going into it you have to design durability to the level of what you plan on running. I wanted a strong and balanced lower end, so I choose a steel crank and H-Beam rods with a stud girdle to help hold things in place. I also know that sometime in the neer future, I'll want to play with No2 so I went with Forged pistons, instead of hyperutectic "however it's spelled" pistons. I also knew I wanted a higher compression to support bigger lift camshafts with greater duration smaller LSA. I choose a .140" domed piston to handle that, giving a 13:1 comp with the Victor chamber size. Then the intake is a no brainer with the Victor head, goes a Victor intake. So as you can see, it's just basic stuff put together to come up with this combo. I could benefit from a newer style camshaft, but I planed on a 600+hp engine W/O power adding devices, and it appears that I have accomplished this and then some. With the No2 hooked up,,, I might run a 200hp shot... But first I have to get this setup to launch without spining through second gear untill I let off the go pedal!

Almost missed it again for a month, but thanks, Cant you do that with the right TQ, gear ratio and tires? Sounds like a pretty mean power plant, with the right things behind it, bet you'll get your wish.
To be honest, I like to watch pass-time and i love the smile on guys faces when they say "nope, no bottle, ALLL motor"..
