Power timing

Adjustable vac adv units. From the instruction sheet that comes with adjustable VA such as Crane, Accel, I can tell you this: the person who wrote the instruction has NO CLUE about how to dial in extra timing that VA provides. No clue. Useless. Maybe the janitor wrote the instructions....

For some reason, I was unable to continue with post #21.
Adj VA units have TWO adjustments: total VA added & the rate that it is added.
The rate is adjusted with the Allen key. It compresses an internal spring. This adjustment is to make sure that the timing is steady at idle [ in gear if auto ]. Most adj VA units will work down to about 6" of idle vac.

The total amount of VA added is controlled by actuator movement. With Crane units for GM dists, an adj plate is provided to limit VA. This does not work with Chrys dist, so some sort of stop needs to be fabricatred if total VA needs to be limited.
