I'm trying to get my first car which is a 66 Plymouth Belvedere back on the road. (I had it for 28 years) I decided to stick with the 2 bbl carburetor. What 2 bbl carb for a 273 is recommended? Any other suggestions for the car? Any certain plug/wires would best for the 273? etc. thanks.

Carter BBD.

Pull it off, look inside, get a kit.

...and some varnish remover/cleaner.

Check the sister site ForABodiesOnly.

Most A body cars came with 273/318 engines.

Welcome from NY.
I'd start with the brakes first.
The original single pot master cylinder can be replaced with a dual 1967 up style pretty easily.
You'll need a conversion block for the extra brake line.
I would definitely replace the rubber lines and suggest getting a kit for the hard lines.

As far as the carb you could either rebuild the original or get a rebuilt replacement from Rock Auto.

Wires from Rock Auto as well.
Standard or yes even AC Delco would work fine.

How old is the gas in it?

I will look into Carter BBD and Rock Auto.
I was wondering if I needed to change out the master cylinder to a dual.

The gas is very old. It's been sitting for a long time. I will need the tank to be dropped and cleaned.
