Getting ready to work on the steering box leak.....looks like the column has to be pulled back. Anyone know what size that dowel pin is so I can co e up with proper size punch to knock it out?
Also, is it straight or tapered? Only in and out one way?

Thats a spring pin, been awhile since I installed mine but I think it's 1/4 dia. pin.

The "roll pin" that secures the housing to the shaft is 5/16" by 1 1/4" long....no taper, just an ordinary roll pin.

This is the difference between a spring pin and a roll pin but I guess it depends on which side of the Mississippi your standing on.... sorry I'm a Toolmaker so definitions are absolute in my world.

If you have trouble knocking it out, try turning the wheel 180 deg. and going from the other side.
Sometimes they come out easier in one direction vs another.

Got it. Thanks guys

If you don't want to pound that roll pin back in you can do what I did.
I used a 5/16-18 set screw in place of the roll pin.

Just ran a 5/16 tap down the hole first and install along with some Loctite.
