Hi, I am Joe. I'm new to the forum. I have a 68 roadrunner. It's RH21H8A on my build sheet I have codes 674 and 677. I cant find what they mean. Someone told told me they were export codes. If my car is an export car, What differences are there? thanks

Code 674 is "domestic owners publication--owners manual

Code 677 is "built for export order"

The combination of both most likely points to an order take from a military serviceman while overseas. This was quite common during the Viet Nam war with young guys ordering new cars so it was waiting for them when they arrived home. The manufacturers were set up to take their orders while they were overseas and the buyer could pick the dealer location that they wanted to take deliver of the car. Some waited until they got to their hometown and some picked up at the dealer nearest the base they when to when the came back to the states.

There would be no difference in this case regarding how the car was built or any other equipment.

If the car was actually exported outside the USA, depending on the country it went to, it would have an optional language owners manual and other things possibly such as a speedo in KM rather than MPH.

Are you sure that is an RH21, because if it is , that's not a Road Runner, it' a Satellite. A Road Runner will have RM21 as a sedan.

My 68 Charger was coded the same... export code car but was purchased by a Sgt, in the Marine Corps back when...

Sorry about that.

Thanks for all the replies. sorry I was typing fast and didn't catch that. My car is RM21. To my knowledge they never made a 2 door sedan Satellite. Thanks for helping me decode that, 696pack. My car also says made in canada on the air cleaner and jack instructions. I wasn't sure if they all came that way. My car is a 4-speed and doesn't have the reverse light on the dash, it has 67 style headrests, and the horn button is painted silver. I haven't seen a another 68 that the button wasn't plated but I am only 25, so I haven't seen alot of them in person, only magazines. Thanks again.

The "Made in Canada" on the breather and sticker just means those parts were made in Canada. I didn't bother to look, but I didn't remember any RH21's being built either. Interesting that it doesn't have the reverse light. May be an early production car.

This a bench or bucket car? You know in 68 headrests were an option, and the bench and bucket headrests are different.

All 68 roadrunners came with a bench seat. If you wanted buckets you had to buy a sport satellite or a gtx. Bucket seats in a roadrunner weren't available til' 69. Remember they were two door taxi cabs with high performance motors. No 440's in roadrunners in 68.

It's alright. sorry I just get tired of people telling me I have a 69. I believe that mine is only 68 in the Reno area. I have found 10 69's. I have heard about a hemi 68 in an older part of town but nobody has ever seen it. Sorry if i came off as being rude. I wasn't trying to.

naaa....I was just having an off day.

Bet I could find that Hemi if it exists

I heard it was in older northwest reno and it hasnt moved since the late 70's. Recently I have found a 440-6 4-speed Lemon twist superbird and a 64 s/s hemi savoy.

How were Canadian cars different than U.S. cars? Other than rust. How would I know if my car was Canadian?

If you look at the 7th digit in your vin number, that will verify which assembly plant your car was built at. If your car was build in Canada, the 7th digit of your vin will be R, Here's a listing of the various assembly plants for you to look at.

Richard

A = Lynch Road MI
B = Hamtramck MI
C = Jefferson MI
D = Belvedere IL
E = Los Angeles CA
F = Newark DE
G = St. Louis MO
P = Export
R = Windsor Ontario Canada

B bodies (best I can recall) were only built at Lynch Road, L.A., and St. Louis

Hi Tem,

I just listed all of the assembly plants for reference, but I agree that the Road Runners were not built at all of the above plants, only at the Lynch Road, Hamtramck, Los Angeles and St. Louis plants as far as I know. I have not been able to determine if they ever built any 68 Road Runners in Canada, but it doesn't look like it so far, but as we all know, Chrysler did LOTS of things that they weren't supposed to have done, so I'm not ruling it out at this point. It would be nice if we could get the fender tag codes and full vin number of this members 68 Runner, as we could then decode the numbers and know for sure where his car was built and it's factory options.

Here's some interesting information I found on the 68 B-Body cars.

RM21H8A230005 its a Lynch Road car. My car was missing the fender tag but I have the build sheet.

I see where they list the 906 head for the 383 in`68 Road Runners in the link that "Thebankerstoy" provided, I was under the impression that for this one year only a casting # ending in 250 was used.
