FOR SALE Looking for GTX What do ya think???

Neat but it's already overpriced if I were buying

This is a genuine GTX with a clean PA title. It is not numbers matching and the fender tag is missing.

It's gonna need the same thing every other complete original or aging car needs to be really nice and who knows what's under that paint since it's peeling and rusting already. Although it's in nice but worn shape. It's not worth a premium and it's at $11.6 already and probably going to climb. There are other GTX's selling that are much nicer newer builds with fender tags for ~$30K which is much cheaper than this one will cost you in the end. If you are on a budget buy a much cheaper complete and possibly running car evern if it's a sat or coronet and build it yourself. Don't pay for stuff you are going to have to replace like paint and interior and overall appearance.

And there is something to be said for doing it your way such as paint and options like trans.

All I can say is good luck trying to find a nice, newer resto GTX for $30K. If they do exist, they are on CL in some remote location and gone within a day or two. I looked for 6 months and couldn't find one.

I agree with ya 100% B. I bought mine 5 years ago (pretty much at the top of the market) 68 GTX, fender tag, an almost perfect build sheet and the car is super clean and mine was less than that.

i would peg that one @ around 24.. maybe a little bit north of that.

The one in the CL ad does not have a fender tag. That has to be taken into account. There was a very nice 68 GTX on here for around $24K .. rotisserie resto if I recall correctly. There was also a completely done beautiful green 68 or 69 that was awesome just missing fender tag that sold for less than $30 due to no fender tag. There was also a 69 RR convert for $45ish that only needed minor freshening of an older resto .. blue inside and out and on and on.

I was just warning the OP to not pay too much for it w/ no tag if he cares about getting into it upside down. Most people are looking for a forever car and may not care now about a fender tag but it WILL affect resale if it has to be put up later so that should be factored into any purchase price.

Cheers Mar and your car is way the hell nicer than this one and a super desirable cool *** color to boot. Nothing wrong with the color in the ad mind you.

I agree. I've been looking for longer than 6 months and can't find anything.

The car in the ad looks nice to me. It's worth checking out IMO.

Awww don't say that. That is what I paid for my RR..... :-(

It's all relative Funship. I'm not judging all cars by this one. I was judging this one on it's own incl the info the seller revealed and the story the pictures tell and the price it's going to climb to. I'ts now at $14.6

Oh it's okay Tallhair. I get what you are saying and I was just having some fun with it. However i will say this about THIS particular car: I see it was setup for A/C at some point (look at the dash and the heater box), yet the engine is missing the compressor. So that along with the missing fender tag would make me a bit leary about even thinking about bidding on this particular car. Is it REALLY a GTX..hmmm. Anyway the current bidding is $16.3K on it but I know if I were to even THINK about bidding on it, I'd been checking the rad core support, the VIN and even the trunk rail for the vin numbers. Plus I'd want better look at the trunk.

I agree with most all the comments here, BUT, It's a northeastern car it's going to have issues period... I've also seen a whole lot worse GTX's, selling for allot more $$$ too, $18k-$20k for a running & driving, clear titled & un-restored decent 69 GTX, 440ci, A/C, 727tf w/console, buckets w/decent shape interior & not totally butchered {& it's 95% all there too, even if it's not #'s matching, some minor stuff missing or changed, that's half the damn battle, finding all the multitudes of little stuff &/or trim pieces etc.}, Green with white top & interior car, that isn't a rust bucket {if it really is a GTX & not a clone}, it is worth looking at, if the price is right & check some #'s, like Funship32 suggested... Also IMHFO I wouldn't blindly blow it off or over bid on it up too much either, not much more than where it is now $16,309, unless you've seen it in person yourself or had someone look @ it in person for you, that you trust... It's all fixable stuff, it's mostly all there too... Just look @ some of the stuff people on here go thru, on some of the rustoration builds.... the seller also seems to be relatively honest/upfront with his add too... that's pretty rare in itself

finding all the multitudes of little stuff

My God did you hit the nail on the head with THAT comment! Mine came without the door lock rods (the rod that goes from the outter lock assy to the latch assy). Thank God someone here at FBBO had a set for sale.

Nice car, exactly like my first GTX, You know the story, shoulda woulda coulda Thatys a done story. Now to find another one!!!

It would take a minimum of 30k for me to consider selling mine

I would not even consider less than 30k cash for mine. It has the fender tag, Dana 60, and a date correct 440 4 speed.

that's a nice 68 love the color combo :headbang:
