How long do you think I can go with NO sleep?

I just recently started work at Lowes doing night shift down stocking and merchandising. Me and another newbie decided yesterday that we would see who can stay up for the most consecutive hours, whoever lasts the longest gets $100 from the other co-workers (12 of them pitched in on it). How long do you think I can go for? Whoever gets closest is awarded a high five and a framed picture of my face before I crash. ;)

P.S., this started yesterday at Noon...

Studies have shown that after 3 days of no sleep hallucinations, loss of hearing/sight, uncontrolled motor skills and no fine motor skills can occur...

You are a serious hazard to yourself after about 36 hours if you are working, driving, etc.

I'm not really sure it's worth it either, I've made it for over 3 days, lots of coffee & hard work, kept me going, got kind of loopy toward the end thou, started getting fuzzy vision, really dry eyes, constantly rubbing my eyes & yawning, high anxiety... I was replacing a dedicated computer system for a Automotive Dealership group, hauling & installing a complete system from one dealership across town to another, with as little down time as possible, that had to be up ASAP it's their life's blood & I had help that would do some cabling for me, GET IN SMALL SPACES I COULDN'T FIT, I did most all the rest, but they left after their shifts, cheap boss me, didn't want to pay all the OT... But I stayed nearly 84hr before I had to go to sleep in my truck for a couple hr's, I think...IIRC

That is a dumb idea! Why subject yourself and others to the hazards of no sleep? Do you run a forklift at work? If I were your coworker I would stay away from you. Don't be stupid, get your proper rest.

A few times in my life I can remember being sleep deprived. One was a 24 hour stretch of thrashing on mopars, drag racing then baking in the sun walking every square inch of Chrysler at carlisle. The other was driving straight through from Baltimore to panama city beach florida, having left Baltimore at 1 am. Iirc it was around 16 hour drive. Both times resulted in hallucinations. The trip to Florida was bad. The yellow divider lines on the road where litteraly coming over my head in a sort of cork screw swirling motion forbthe last few miles. I had to punch myself in the face, hard, to stay awake. We got to the motel and my buddy got the room. I walked in and as if it were a movie or cartoon or something I collapsed onto the bed and I think I was asleep before I hit it.

Kieth Richards was awake for 9 days straight strung out on Heroin. Fell asleep while playing his guitar, woke up 36 hours later.

Your measly 72+ hrs is not notable or worth it.

I have stayed up for 3 days a couple of times when i was younger now i have times where i stay up 20 to 30 hrs straight about a month ago i had to go to the emergency room because my sodium had dropped to 107 . I stayed up for 40 hrs straight they gave me a sleeping pill didn't even faze me but when i crashed i slept for 12 hrs ,

I can still do about 40 hrs. As long after about 24 I'm home & keeping busy doing stuff. Nothing hazardous, just stuff to keep busy.

Wonder why young drivers have high insurance rates? Perhaps you've answered your other post.

And only Keith could get away with 36 sleeping hours of bed-head into a hair style.

Whats the point of doing it? Am I missing some genius idea here?

I see an ignorant, uneducated, jerk here asking this type of thing. All this supposed antic is a hazard to the work place and an accident waiting to happen. Lowes is an OSHA compliant company if I am not mistaken. I would be on the phone to that store up there and let the Supervisors in on the attempt being attempted. Simply put.....Are You Fu&^ing Crazy???? To want to put yourself and your co-workers at risk for a damned fool stunt of "Sleep Deprivation'??? And for a measly 100.00 dollars Canadian. Son you need to get a real dose of reality here and come back down to Earth. GGGHHHHEEEEZZZZ!!!! No wonder the younger generation is so messed up...Foolish...Just my 2 Cents...cr8crshr/Tuck

Um...he said he wasn't going back to work until Wednesday night, so...what co-workers will be at risk? I doubt he'll still be up before then.
