Why has nobody bid on this? '71 charger super bee

Neat car but 6k seems high to me.Can you even get any replacement panels?Car looks very rusty to me.

A/c ?

If you look thru through the pictures, it has an a/c dash. I didn't think a/c was offered on 6 pack cars ?

The cluster has heat and air controls, but the firewall is heater-only; so somewhere along the line, someone swapped complete dash assemblies.

In Virginia all I need is a report that says that the car wasn't stolen, and a bill of sale. At that point I can go down and get a free and clear title from the DMV in less than two weeks. They do a basic background check on the car and then issue the car a title and number . I have had to do this for a couple of cars that I have bought

I can't believe it didn't sell, I should have bought it. The air grabber hood would have made it all worth it for me

In some states, no title is no problem - NY is one of those that doesn't not have car titles, just registrations. BUT, in many states, in order to get a title on a car that comes from a no-title state (NY, GA, AL, etc) the buyer has to show proof that the car was actually registered in that no-title state, before a title in a title state will be given. Many states also do NOT recognize a bill of sale, like OK.

It may be a flow through ventilation, not a/c. However, it ended below $3,000.

No title is an issue, but the bigger issue is it's getting harder and harder to justify rough project car purchases any more. Back when these cars were selling for insane $$$ and the only way most guys could get one was to by a rusty POS and rebuild it, they were worth the time, money, and effort. But now that values have been dropping for 4-5 years, and there's a glut of finished or nearly-finished cars, there's little sense in buying a car in this bad a shape for anything more than a grand or so because by the time you finish it you'll have spent 25-50% more than you would buying it outright.

Was watching this car. As you can tell the car is not an original green car, as the tag states. The dash was swapped out...

Heater control is for A/C so that's been changed. Also has the louvered tail lights which only came on a Bee with color keyed bumpers which were not available with concealed head lights so those have been changed. Needs a lot of body work and is missing a lot of things. Everything it does have needs re-placed or completely restored. Major project that will nickel and dime you to death.

How can you tell that it was not green? The motor bay has been repainted so may have been the floors. I'd have to see the car first hand to know for sure since there are no shots of the underside. And beings how the dash looks to have been changed out I'd be checking the numbers on the body to make sure that the vin isn't from another car.

Why hasn't it sold? That's an easy one to answer; it's a piece of ****!

Case closed.

71 Bee - it was real

Plus being a new York car it is for sure a rust bucket!

Hey guys, well, I am the nut that bought that thing after it ended. I too watched and waited, hemmed and hawed if I wanted to get involved in another major project but after it didn't sell I called up the seller and made a deal. It was more than I wanted but less than he did. I drove up ( about 2.5 hours from me) and checked it out and here is the deal. Its a true V code WM super bee. The seller was an honest straight shooter who bought it along with two other project cars sight unseen from a body shop who had a mechanics lien on it for work they did and were not paid for - hence the title issue. I have a title in the works. The numbers on the cowl and radiator support match the VIN. I have the matching fender tag and the dash frame is a match. It looks like someone at some point started to put parts on the car from another car and do body work which is why various parts don't make sense. From what I can see it appears someone sold parts off it - probably when the engine went. The hood is original and 90% straight with a small crease/dent in the right front corner and a couple of rust spots on the underside support but not the top skin. The doors and quarters are almost rust free - no holes, just surface rust, the trunk and floors are remarkably solid with a couple of pin holes in the center of the trunk and two pencil size holes in the front pass floor. The frame rails and all supports are rust free. Overall it is actually a decent shell. The fenders are shot, the hideaway headlights are gone as well as the engine and trans but the original 8 3/4 is there along with the right 440-6 springs - 6 on one side and 5 on the other. All the V code telltale signs are there. So, I took the plunge - The way I saw it, a finished v code Bee is 50k+. What I paid I can get back if I were to change my mind - parts alone are worth it. Plus I got lucky and the very next day that I got it home someone had an ad on Craigs List for all of the green hard to find original interior parts in near mint condition from a GTX. I ran over and bought it all for $300! According to what I have been able to find, this may be quite a rare find. According to the Super Bee registry it is accounted for and the only F7 440-6 Bee produced in 71. It is also has a bunch of valuable factory options such as the N96 hood, A09 hideaways, C16 console, C55 buckets, G36 painted mirrors, J45 hood pins, J81 rear spoiler, N42 machine gun exhaust tips, N85 tach, rally dash, strips, two tone seats - a many nice options and its going to be pricey to get it right for sure!

Good luck with that 71 Charger/Super Bee project, sounds like someone thought it was worth it...
did any of the "well optioned" rare parts, actually come with that car ?
or is it just a shell for the most part ?

Could be a great score, :headbang:
as long as you can find all the necessary date coded or era correct parts
to help or aid in retaining it's resale value/rarity {rarity doesn't always equate to value}
or what ever it is your going to do with it, cool body style either way...

Sounds like it may be a great project car, it won't be cheap or easy to find everything,
but could be nice...
I will build a 71 Charger R/T/Super Bee {probably a clone} some day

I always liked this body and think they (chrysler) took a great body and killed it slowly over the 72-74 years but the 71 is cool. Like another member mentioned - finding one let alone one from NY in the rustbelt that isnt beyond repair is tough. I am going to try and build it to correct to original as possible but with an eye on making it car to drive and enjoy. So, I may not have to correct bolt here or there and there will be many repo parts but it will still be a valuable and nice car that can be driven and shown. I have $3500 into the car so far and will do all of the work myself as I have done before - I have restored a very nice 70 RR convt and a 70 challenger RT convt to very high standards before so here we go again

just shows ya gotta go look or at least talk to the seller to qualify what the car is.. yea the collector car market is soft, economy making slow recovery, BUT I am amazed seems like NOONE ever thinks anything out there is worth buying....NOW if these guys are selling? nother s tory!??? LOL congrats on picking up a desirable and yes rare car. best part is YOU do your own work! otherwise, a guy might as well shop for a done car!
