Tunes for the shop/garage

Fluance has a killer deal 50% off their blue tooth speaker. You just pair your phone or other device to it and play your music. For $100 it's a lot cheaper than a new stereo and speaker setup. Plus, judging from the reviews, it will crank out the tunes.

I don't have one, yet. But I did buy their 5.1 surround speaker system when they first started up about 10 years ago. They have excellent quality for the price.

In order for me to Bluetooth tunes to a wireless speaker from my phone that would require too many thing like:

Learning how to use my phone
Learning how to set up an account that would allow me to download music to my phone
Downloading music to my phone
Then 'bluetoothing' to the said speaker!

LOL. I feel like a dinasour. For now I'll stick with my techniques amp and garage sale wired speaker and the radio, yes the radio. LOL


Im sure the speaker is a good deal, maybe one day I'll join the 90's here and get with it!

I know Bose had one. A guy at work had one, I didn't see it but I was hearing a great sound coming from somewhere, sounded like a full home intertainment center. Then he pointed out this little box that he had his iPhone patched into. Wow amazing. Those were selling for $400 back then. Crazy technology for sure.

I'm a victim of "progress" also. My wife and kids are very comfortable with it, and I use them as a crutch when ever they are willing to help. The new devices are really nice to pull up some great tunes when the time calls for it. My wife recently picked up a small Bose speaker, that is re-chargeable, and works off her phone ? I guess we will try it at some cruise nites where there may be "wi-fi", and tune in to some classics. The sound is amazing for a 1-pc system you can carry anywhere easily. At least she still enjoys music, and "Hot Rods", although they need 4 wheels now...

Went the mp3 route instead, all the music on a local drive, using Winamp and randomizing list and then playing. Anything could be next from country, rock, Spanish or classic music. I had more then one person ask what station was that. Mp3 are being run from a normal desktop with computer speakers. If it was a work computer then an external hard drive that I took home every night. Started the computers at work around '96 running the Snap-on ShopKey system which contained current to old car information on a 4 GB hard drive, added the music after 80 GB sizes were common.

I'm in the over 55 crowd and I learned how to do it if that is any encouragement.

I have an old receiver and bookshelf speakers in my garage. I plug in my smart phone and play Pandora via the AUX port on the receiver. But most of the time it's talk radio on local AM channels. Especially when the weatherman predicts severe weather; I get the updates on the radio while working in the garage.

Guess I'm old school/new school?? I have Bluetooth speaker at the shop and use my phone with it there but in my garage at home I still use my am/fm that pops gave me. Fm picks up amazing

You don't have to download songs from, or pay for a service.

You can rip from CD to your computer and copy to the phone's SD card.

...you can also get a turntable with a USB interface, and s/w that lets you rip from vinyl.

I just use satellite radio. I turn it on, and listen. I still buy CDs. I want something in my hand for my money. Take it out of it's case, put it in the stereo, and play it. No ripping, downloading to the computer, uploading to my phone. Also, i don't like the idea of paying for one song at a time. There's other songs on a disc that I might never hear.

I run a Pioneer SX737 into 2 Zenith Allegro 400s and 2 Technics SB-G920s with a 15in woofer. A cheepie C-D player and an old Garrard TT. This is in my 24x24 shop. I had it semi cranked one saturday afternoon and my neighbor started blowing off 30-06 rounds to show his displeasure with my music choice. Que Lynn Andersons I never promised you a rose garden at Warp 9. They whole valley heard that one.

I have a computer in my shop with a 500 gig portable hard drive full of music. I plugged the computer out put into an old stereo receiver I had with a pair of speakers. That thing will blow the windows out of the shop. And in the other end of my shop sits my 1963 seeberg juke box. It will do the same lol.
