440Source doe not have the 512 pistons for the 400 based kit. They say 2-3 weeks, so I'm waiting ever so patiently.

Just curious, has anyone seen what are the dyno numbers for similarly built ( heads, cam, exhaust & cr) strokers starting @ 451-512?
Looking forward to this build up!

Ill post my parts when I get home, that way someone might have an educated guesstimate.

I run the numbers on Desktop Dyno. Sure its not "real world" but it gives you reasonable numbers to compare cams, headers, etc..

A 512" low deck can make 650 +HP with a fairly tame cam and Max Wedge style Indy heads.

Here's my parts list....
Stealth Heads 84cc
400 block, squared, line honed, bore 4.375
Comp Cam XE285HL
Int. 285 Exh. 297
Dur.@50 241/247
Lobe Sep. 110
Valve lift 545/545
Eddy rpm intake
Holley Terminator EFI
TTI Headers
440Source water pump housing
Unnamed water pump
Roller rockers with Smith Bros. Pushrods

5.7 - that surprises me that they're out of Pistons. But 2-3 weeks isn't too bad, but going to seem like forever! They'll be there before you know it.
Your build is very similar to mine. I used the stealth CNC heads. Worked out very well! 9.7 CR and loves pump gas all day. I used the .571 hydraulic roller with roller rockers and smith brothers pushrods..water pump etc all 440 source and all parts have held up well.

I have not had the chance to get on the Dyno yet so I don't have numbers but I know this car isn't for the faint of heart or inexperienced!

Good luck with your build!

I'm gonna call Mancini tomorrow and see what they got. The thing with 440SOURCE is they come balanced, but any kit will need to be balanced. Also the bearings are right, not sure with Mancini.

The 440Source balance was dead on on my kit. They can't afford to sell one that's not. Rebalancing is a waste of money. If you insist then tell 440Source to skip doing it and save a few bucks. If you're using aluminum heads, shoot for a 10:1 - 10.5:1 CR. They'll easily take pump gas.

Plan your CR, quench, head gasket thickness, etc. ahead of time and have your block decked to where YOU need it. Otherwise the shop is likely to just deck it till its straight and square and leave it at that.

The CR and piston height is always calculated with a stock deck height. You really need to measure the block before any machining is started so you know where you're potentially going to end up. If the block has to go below stock deck height then you want to plan that amount and be able to compensate with the head gasket to get you CR and quench.

I'd also suggest having it finished so you can use MLS head gaskets. If need be, these are available much thicker than a standard gasket.

The source kit is nice. I used one in my 511. Probably one of my most favorite engines I've built for myself. Drives around like a 12 sec car untill you cut it loose! Here's a link to the build

Combination sure looks good. I advise having your qualified engine builder verify the balance of the parts.

Damn, nobody has any 400 based stroker kits in stock! WTF!!

I don't have the bottom end.

Waiting for Chicago Connection to call me back, they have Eagle kits.
