Hey all. I need to replace my battery. Currently I have this.

AGM-type batteries hand vibration much better & Optima's are really good (expensive too). I have had good luck with your basic 3-year warranty, highest CCA part-store batteries myself.

Interstate is a pretty good name from what I hear, but you can get good or bad in any brand. When I bought my car it had a no name "Reconditioned" battery. I figured it was installed just to sell the car. It gave up the ghost last year and when I replaced it, they told me it was 8 years old. Go figure.
Batteries are a lot like oil, you're gonna get a lot of varying opinions. I've had good (and bad) luck with batteries from a local Farm & Fleet store (Ill, Wisc & Iowa). I hear good things about Walmart as well. You buy your ticket and take your chances.

I get very good results from the group 27 MOPAR batteries right from the dealer. I generally get 11 years from them.

Wal-Mart. From what I understand, Batteries are manufactured by only 2 companies, Exide and Johnson Controls. Delphi used to be another manufacturer, but I think one of the other two bought it out. So, no matter what the label, it's probably one or the other of the two.

Interstate - looks like you already have the brand. What was your experience with it. That’s my choice cost, cca and reputation. I haven’t had mine long enough to give it an A+ rating.

Only two companies? There are more than that. Between manufacturing plants in the USA, China, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Germany, Russia, Canada, India and a lot of other countries, here's a list of dozens of battery manufacturers. http://jgdarden.com/batteryfaq/batbrand.htm

Interstate brand from Costco will be my next battery, but the soon to be history is Sears Diehard that I had real good luck with.

Is the DieHard line going to die out down there? Even with no Sears left in Canada I can buy a DieHard battery at Kal Tire.

I have one in my 442. It went bad because I let it sit discharged for a year. O'Reilly warrantied it at 2 yrs, 6 months no charge. Worth the extra cost as it was $200 when I bought it and now sells for $295.

Thanks Guys! My battery has a 1/06 label on it & came with the car. The PO said he had to charge it from time to time as it lost it's charge as he didn't drive it all the time.

I've noticed that when I let it sit for about a week I get the clicking noise as the battery is almost dead. The ammeter will go all over the place above 0 when I 1st start it & if I take it out for a drive for about an hr. it seems to settle down to about between 0 & +5.

Go to your dealer and grab a mopar battery, that's all I've been using and they last....

Plus they're black in color and have MOPAR labels on them. They look at least somewhat correct for a MOPAR engine bay, and yes they do last.

I am using an Optima Red top, I bought the battery in 2008, used it for a year or so in my 2006 GTO, then I upgraded to a Yellow Top in my GTO, so this sat on the shelves for several years before going into my Roadrunner in 2013. The battery has been completely run down a few times, but I just put it on my battery charger and its back to full strength, but its been a few years since that happened. I run a trickle/float charger over the winter on it, and for a 10 year old battery, its still performing well!

The upside to the Optima batteries is no worries of acid getting at/ eating paint in the engine bay. Unless it's already happened and your not worried about it.

We're talking about here in the USA, and for auto batteries. For the vast majority of our cars, Exide and Johnson Controls manufacture the batteries. Die hard, interstate, and all the others are only LABELS. Johnson Controls make Mopar batteries.
