HOA sues over a 1965 Ford F250 pickup truck with original patina

Hoa is bull ! I will never pay to live with a bunch of *** holes !
I drove my deuce and a half in to one once it didn't fit in a driveway so I parked on the street about 5 secs I had 5 people saying I need to remove the truck from the development it can't be on the street! I told them I'm not leaving tell me where I can park they said they were going to call the cops ,I say a spot across the street next to a pond no signs anywhere they said no parking I drove that beast of a truck up on top that hill and locked it up told them I got it off the road !
The cop showed up later looked at it asked them where the no parking sign was there wasn't one he told them to leave me alone!
The cop told me if it were to not want to start he would give me a ride home !

I live in an HOA.....Our community is a small HOA and part of a large Master association. So we have 2 associations to deal with and to date I have had zero issues but we did our research on them prior....Again, where we wanted to live there was no option of not living in an HOA....Driving 15 mins versus over an hour was more important but thats my personal choice...

Here is the kicker...We have 50 homes in our section....If you can believe roughly half have a classic car or Vette/Camaro/challenger as weekend cruisers.....I basically live in a community of car nuts.....Furthermore, for the majority I have met and know are wonderful....

Not ALL HOA's are the same and you have to research them before jumping into one.....I previously lived in one that was a nightmare. So I have experienced both sides of the coin and learned what to research....

**** them, sell the house, buy an acreage.

Living in a subdivision that has an HOA has good and bad points. Some HOAs are intrusive and some usually respond when enough of the members complain about something that's too restrictive. Then again, who wants to live next door to somebody who has derelict sitting on concrete blocks in the front yard? Like I said, there's good and bad.

I've never lived in a neighborhood with a HOA BUT I have had some jerks for neighbors. We had a neighbor who built his pool deck right up to his property line which backed onto this jerk's property. The laws are clear - no structures within two feet of the property line. Now it wouldn't be so bad if the jerk had raised his concern at the onset of the project but instead he chose to wait till the deck was completed before he called the city. The city fined the neighbor because he didn't have a permit AND they made him remove two feet next to the property line. Well the guy the built a beautiful shed - two feet from the property line, finished the two sides and front and on the back painted "Bernie is an asshole" in LARGE letters - and there was nothing he could do about it !!

Not sure if this was posted...
Andy Lipka is facing a tough battle with his Homeowner's Association: lose the pickup truck or lose the home.

Lipka's 1965 Ford F-250 is his pride and joy. He describes it as well-running and "pretty close to perfect," despite the fading Tropical Turquoise paint and its bouts of surface rust which peppers the entirety of the truck.

Lipka's HOA considers the truck to be unfit for his neighborhood in Chesterfield, Missouri. The HOA has ordered Lipka to remove the truck, citing bylaws which prohibit vehicles with "moderately severe body damage" to be parked at the driveway of any home which resides in the Woodfield Homes Association's footprint.

Missouri Man's HOA Overlords Say Vintage 1965 Ford F-250 Pickup Truck Must Go or Lose His Home - The Drive

Find a place to store it. Sell the house and say f you all to hoa.

Actually ,get the pickup vinyl wrapped to match the driveway and garage.

If the HOA rules were in place when he bought the house then it’s on him. I cannot imagine living in a development like that though.
But...he does have a garage he could park it in...

We have areas like that up here cut your grass at a certain hour of the day and a specific day only. No more than two cars on your driveway. No working on your car in the garage. No changing color of your house. No watering your grass unless given permission. You pay 1/2 a million for a house up here. 3500 property tax. And usually 300 a month for HOA in newer or certain communities. And they have you by the nuts till you move away.

Your HOA was always nice to me on the phone the half dozen or so times I had to call them to report your parking habits and wrenching on the GTX.
Yeah you’re the guy they were always quoting when I went to the meetings. I don’t know if you know this but the mayor of SJ is my cousin. I’m on the phone to him in the morning.....

My HOA is really coming down on me hard about my cars. For years I have flaunted the rules. Truth is, I signed their contract. They are absolutely within their rights to enforce the codes.

I think the truck guy is okay since they stipulated BODY damage. We all know what their intent was, to keep the neighborhood appearances up and protect property values.

Who owns the property? The homeowner or the HOA?
You pay hoa fees. What do your taxes pay for?
I don't get hoa's. If you think your county/city ordinances aren't good enough, get them changed, or, knowing they aren't, why build there in the first place?

Well some people like HOA's and the rules that go along with them. Not everyone is an anarchist !!

What he should do is tidy the joint up, sell it for top dollar with a long closing date. Then load the front yard up with cars flipped on their roofs and the wheels taken off. Give the HOA a couple months of pure hell !!

Anarchy? Not hardly. But hoa's are like another layer of govt. And as this example shows its too much.
Hope the guy shoves it to em.

Usually an HOA will get smoked with language like this damage statement in the CCR's. It's vague and ambiguous.

Typically the only stipulation that can be made is the cars be registered, insured and in running condition. The exterior condition is NOT something they can regulate.
