Just read on MSN that as of 2011, Ford has had an option to eliminate the gas cap. I wonder how that works? MSN also claims all vehicles will soon eliminate the gas cap as well.

That’s stupid. Ram diesels, later models, don’t have a fuel cap. Completely insane!!

My 2019 dodge Durango doesn't have a gas cap and I like it, one less thing to deal with. As long as it works, it works for me.

I had a Ford once that had no power. 75 Maverick with the straight six....

"As of 2011".. so 9 years now! My '11 x F150 had it and so does my '19 ! What's to wonder how it works, kinda like a womans legs. Sealed, then you spread them to fill up and take the nozzle back out and they seal again.

Until someone comes and takes what’s yours. A cap is should be there, in my opinion

,,,, and pay at the pump ! :)

No cap on the Escape I drive for work. It looks like a spring loaded flapper. Works fine for me. You’ll never leave the cap laying on top of the pump again.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
You're asking or wonder? Ohh man that's... ahhh :fool:

My 2011 Mustang has no cap. No problems and very convenient.

You mean you have to use a crowbar to open the gas cap too?

I was surprised to find my daughter's 2015 Durango has no cap. The flap looks like it seals up when you remove the pump nozzle but I just thought it was a Cheap Charlie way of saving money. The filler door doesn't seal from dust and such so I think it would cause some clogged fuel socks down the road. Another better idea by ford I guess. I wonder how that would have worked back in the 50's & 60's when most of our roads were not paved.

I guess the second generation Dodge Charger had the basic idea first, or was it race cars?

Only time will tell if it works out. There are a lot of things new cars have I don't like. I got a email from my deal the other day telling me how much life my oil had left, each tires pressure and how many miles on the car, no service required yet. Now that's fucked up!! The whole car is one big computer! You think not having a gas cap is a problem, wait till all that computer crap takes a crap.
