It was much harder than I would like to admit. I have been a lot of places in my life and seen a lot terrible crap, but when she passed it affected me a lot more than I was expecting. She isn't the first dog I have lost, but I think as we get older we get more attached to them. Not sure if I will get another one or not, most likely I will at some point.
When your ready you'll know. I think a new pup can only add to ones life and make anyone happier!

Threads like this always make me tear up. My first dog got run over out in front of my house early one morning and a neighbor saw it happen. He said they went out of their way to get her but wouldn't say anymore about it. Mixed emotions to put it lightly....pissed off to the max but then felt she was now in a better place since she was getting up in years and had some health issues but really pissed off at the neighbor for even saying anything since he had no intention of saying more. Had a fenced in area out back but she got out that morning.... :(

I gotta admit. Sometimes he definitely acts like a little boy. As seen in the picture with Irving in the pool, he places the ball on the pool deck then swims to the middle of the pool and waits for me to throw it to him. He does it over and over. He walks around the shallow end on his hind legs.
Is he a Samoyed because Samoyeds they say have very human-like eyes

Since I met Mary in the late Spring of 1999, I have grown to really love our pets. I wanted a dog as a kid but Dad was intolerant of ill trained dogs and Mom didn't have the patience to train.
Raja was Mary's first dog of her own.
Border Collie/Rottweiller mix. Smart and spiteful:

Our second dog was Mopar!

Samson was next. Those three had 5 years together.

Raja, the one in the center above, developed bone cancer at 13. Mopar the lab had a knee surgery that went bad. We had the leg removed and he got around pretty good for a couple of years.

In 2009, my older brother got sick and asked us to take in his Lab/Pit Bull mix "Buddy".

He was a fun dog. He would bark at certain words, howl at bagpipes on TV, walk around the house giving a random "Woo Woo" for no apparent reason. He lived to be 15.

Mary eased her pain of losing Raja with this one we named Rocket. He is fast and loves to catch frisbees.

Next up is a dog that made me the happiest and then the saddest of all dogs so far. Domino.

She would go berserk at the sound of a squeaky toy. You may remember my thread..."My dog tested positive tor THC".
This poor girl developed brain cancer and we had to watch her slowly go. Prednisone slowed the spread and helped a bit but it only delayed the inevitable. Damn I miss her.

Barney was another one that we fostered and decided to keep. I named him Barney (Short for Barnacle) because he tends to stick to you and not go away. Funny, funny dog that wigs out randomly and runs full steam around the yard with the craziest look on his face.

Our most recent dog is Pebbles. I posted awhile back that "The bitch ate my pizza".
She is hungry all the time. She pulled a "take and bake" pizza from the counter, still in the box and ate everything.

The photos above were a reenactment.

She helped heal my heart after the loss of Domino. They look similar but are miles apart in personality....Just like people!

They get into the funniest poses!

What my girl Mopar really looks like. (My girlfriend named her wihtout my input!)
And my new stepdog puppy, Runa.

These threads tear me up sometimes
We've had many dogs, labs, border collies, mini collies, mutts, etc.
But the one that got to me was my boy Roscoe

12 1/2 years, watching him deteriorate with cancer was devastating. Wife says I grieved for him more than some people.
Hand made stone, people think I'm crazy

We do have another Dachshund to ease the pain, Dodger
