I found this car reverb at an estate sale today. I have a few other ones, but this one is a little different. Behind the white panel there are six colored lamps. I believe that when The reverb is all connected that the lamps will flash on and off with the music. I am wondering if anyone remembers similar Reverb units? I am also looking for any help I can get in finding a schematic or figuring out how to wire it up. I cannot find a manufacturers name anywhere. There is a sticker on the back with a serial number that also reads part number 100047–057.

My brother had a 63 Chrysler with that exact unit... Pre-dates disco but certainly looks disco...

I think Verb-A-Tone was the actual name. May have been sold by LaFayette.

This thing produces hall? What should that be good for in a car?

I think he is referring to it producing a hall effect. And it being inside the car.

It delays the signal to the rear speaker for a fraction of a second to simulate stereo sound. I have a reverberator in my '67 R/T that I pirated out of a 1966 Chrysler 300. It works OK for music, but it makes the announcer's voice sound "tinny".

Cousin had one in a 63 Ford Galaxie factory installed.
Also had a reverb factory installed in his 64 Fury.
They actually sound pretty cool.

Had one in a '63 GP, first wheels I drove being available most of the time as my mother had a co-worker who picked her up most of the time. Remember the reverb well thinking it was cool cruising through town. 389 tri-power triple black; bit over the top for a nutty 16 year old, lol...another story about that. I was more lucky than skilled.

Okay thanks.
Well the name reverb is a bit misleading then, isn't it? At least i think of a hall effect when i read reverb. :)

Pretty cool units. Considering AM mono radio. Had a tone dial (dark or bright tone). Reverb unit added a tone like twang

FM shows up , add stereo multiple speakers. And concert tunes in the car.

I only have a Mono AM Radio in my Charger , static and all is kind of cool to listen to.

Right.

Okay thanks.

What you think of as hall is exactly what this unit creates. You get the effect of reverberation off hard walls, it was supposed to make the radio sound richer.

I think i now understand how it works, thanks. :)

Some youngsters can't comprehend the gadgets old-timers had back in the day.
I will add as a "pre-geezer" (and a modern day luddite) I sometimes can't comprehend the gadgets all the youngsters have today. When I first saw an electronic digital tire pressure gauge the first time I thought: Really? What's next? An electronic #2 pencil? Pretty simple stone age/analog devices. Also does everything need added uplinks to a smart phone?

^^^^^^^I'm a total cave man. Have no use for wiz-bang blue what ever. I can hardly do this stuff.
Oh yeah, I still have a flip phone. Verizon told me I gotta year left then it won't work no more.
Don't need a phone anyway. My wife has a smart phone and cusses it daily !

Nowadays. A Fair sized bluetooth speaker and a download of lots of music saves inner doors and parcel trays from getting chopped up .

But... the "chopping up"... was fun. It was something we DID. With our bare hands. And when we were done... we were satisfied, at something we accomplished.

And sometimes those speaker holes were the end result of 80 - 100 little holes drilled all around the outline. :)
