I visited all these sites about ten years ago on my way through CA. I did not go to the train wreck site or bridge jump, but shopped for groceries at Save Mart, visited Bill's Pool Hall which was still open as a bar, stopped at the Farmington General Store and sat on "Mary's Bench" on the front porch, and of course drove the orchards. It was a ton of fun.

I wanna pancake a rental car over that 'dozer ramp.

My second favourite line in the movie.

Are they still alive today. Man brings back the drive-in movies. Those where the good old days. Kids now days just don't know.

I first saw this movie when I was like 8 years old. 1970ish. My parents had it on while they pounded butts in their chairs, yeah I grew up in a smoky house. I was taken and wowed. I had a Hot Wheels toy at the time where you could mold the body in color by sticking in some plastic melting thing then stuff it on a chassis. After that I when through the yellow and smashed them shortly after. That movie just stuck with me as a kid.

I know FONDA, MORROW "TWILITE ZONE chopper crash", ROARKE have past, S.George is still alive

NOW CARL....THATS NOT NICE ....
Close....it's when Franklin gets picked up by the helicopter pilot...... and there was something said about the previous passengers being a women's group.

Franklin says something like "What do you think I want to do? Smell the seats?"

I believe this is what happened to the car after the guy who bought the car from the studio lot lost track of the car. The rear quarter repair matches exactly. The nose was replaced a second time after his girlfriend wrecked the car.

The 68 Charger R/T was destroyed in the first take of the train crash scene, but the explosives failed to detonate.

This 69 Charger, believed to be an SE due to the missing Charger script emblems on the sailpanels was the car that hit the train and exploded at the end of the film.

In the last picture you can see the explosives detonate and blow out the rear window on the car.
