Well, the pipeline is isolated now and burning off the product that's still in it. Liquid Nat Gas.....

It'll be awhile before knowing what happened but right now, they are saying that car ran off the road and hit a valve....I'm thinking it was a terrorist thing. If it were an accident, the guy driving must have been drunk. Anyways, it's going to be well into the night before the product completely burns off then cool everything down around it but that cooling process shouldn't take too long.

More of a fairly loud bang than a boom. I thought that a transformer blew out.
 
Hit it with a trencher or backhoe I would imagine.

Looking at the steal shot on the news, the valve he hit does not appear to be near a main road.
