I am not sure what is happening with me. My sleep schedule has changed. I wake up around 4am and can not seem to go back to sleep. My wife says just stay in bed and you will fall back asleep. That doesn’t work. This morning was 3:45am. I was always a 10pm to 5:30 am. During the week is not so bad, I just get to my 1st job earlier.
I do see that I am not the only early riser on FBBO.

Exact same thing for me. Let me know if you find a cure....

Ya I usually wake around 4am. But I try to rest until my alarm goes off. I did eliminate any visible clocks in my room it kind of tricks my mind into staying a little sleepy.

My solution is to go to bed later, I don’t want to be awake at 5:00 AM.

I asked my doctor, why for years I was still getting up at 4:20 every morning like I had for most of my life, he said it would go away as I aged, most likely. He said the wiring in the brain would likely slowly slow down sensing and responding to the inputs as well as it should because I would be getting older and so is my brain. The brain becomes less responsive as we age. Inputs like sunset, sunlight, meals, social cues and physical activity that help mark where we are in a day. They're all called time givers, or they give time to the brain, they help the brain sense where it is in a 24-hour cycle. Vision changes that come with age can reduce the intensity of the degree of light stimulation that our brain receives, which plays an important role setting our clock and keeping it on track. He made me do a sleep study and I now have a diagnosed case of sleep apnea. Let the good times roll.

I get up at 5 every day out of habit.. if i wake at 4 i just stay awake cause i will feel worse if i go back to sleep for 40 mins.. What i hate though is that i used to be like midnight til 5 for sleep.. now i go to bed at like 9-10.... all comfy and warm.. but damn i got old fast

Same problem here. When I get up early I take a 3 mg melatonin pill and it usually helps me to get back to sleep shortly.
Tks,

Same thing here. I actually enjoy waking up at 5AM and somedays at 4. I worked the railroad for 30 years and worked lots of weird hours and many days with practically no sleep at all so I am fine with waking early 7 days a week.

Aging is what is happening!!! I wake up most nights 2-3 times to drain the main, which is an annoyance because it doesn't change. Usually, it is in 3-hour blocks. I do manage to return to deep sleep, but 3 hours later, it's the same thing again. Final get-up is between 6:30 and 7:30, and I usually grab a power nap midday/early afternoon for about 25-40 minutes. I am routinely in bed between 9:30 and 10:30 at night, maybe stretching it to 11:00 pm. I like the fact that I am getting older, however, the damned aging of the human vessel is frustrating and I hate it...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

I can relate, trying to stay up later 11-12 so I can sleep in later
that doesn't even work... still trying
I didn't mind when I was still working
I got up at 4:30 almost always, 7 days a week, down to the office or warehouse
get stuff done before my guys showed up...

Now that I've been fully retired, for almost 4 years now
it sucks not being able to sleep a bit longer in the mornings...
I think I may not be getting myself as tired, even mentally tired, is part of it...

Now my dog is used to getting up early too, he wants outside,
at like 5:00 am now, like clockwork...
I do still sometimes stay in bed or get back on or in the bed
sit up, watch some TV, after letting the dog out to pee...
Usually watch something car show wise, on Youtube or TUBI or DVR'd stuff
actually get up go out to the kitchen about 7-ish, force myself to rest...
The dog wants to be fed & I get some quite time, before dealing with my dad
& not have the TV blaring or dog active etc. following my dad around worrying
about a trip hazard etc.
Dad he sleeps in like 10:00 am almost always now, don't know how he does it...
He goes to bed at 10:00 pm too, & then sleeps 1/2 the day in his recliner...
I'm glad I'm not like that...

I tried not drinking coffee, or ice-tea, caffeine
& I only drink it in the mornings too, probably more than I should...
But, that didn't work either, glad because I really like my morning coffee...

My Dr. had me start taking Magnesium & a vit. B-complex w/C for leg cramps,
it sort of helps with sleep too, not a lot, but I seem more rested in the mornings...
Take a nap every so often during the day, not planned really...
I am retired after all... :poke:

I don't do any social media before 11:00 am-ish or after like 4:30-5:00pm-ish
"usually", that seems to let my mind rest, relax more in the evenings...

I've been reading a lot more at nights too, gun mags or car stuff or history,
it's not really helping 'the early morning wake up deal', but I rest easier
my mind is at rest, when I 1st go to bed, I seem to fall asleep faster...
I do hate going to bed & staring up at the ceiling not being able to sleep...
Or maybe it's that I'm going to bed later, I don't know which...

Good luck

I have an annoying habit of waking up just before my alarm goes off. Some days it's within 5 minutes. :mob:

I got up at 5:30 a.m. to go to work for 40 years. No more! Don't call me before 9:00 a.m.! I feel bad for you guys that can't sleep late. I wake up at 4:00 a.m., but have a P, and go back to bed.

My sleep schedule has changed as well due to having new kittens, they want to be fed about 4am...

I get up and feed them and then go out to our TV room and try to go back to sleep on the recliner. Sometimes I do & other times I don't.

I need to feed them a bit later in the am as well as in the evening as even if they are not up, now I'm used to waking up at 4am....

Try reading the Bible when you awaken too early; the devil will make sure you are sleeping again in no time.
