I'm trying to put my 440 back together, I think it's about a 76 block. The new main bearings are not even close. They are a sealed power 4094 m 20. Jegs web site said b/rb mains. Is the 383 400 mains not the same as a 440, or something?
I ran my comp cam and lifters for not too long last year, then had to pull it apart for a piston failure. I had the lifters all set to go back on the same lobe, but my son threw them all into a bucket of solvent to clean them. Am I going to have issues if I put them on whatever lobe they end up on?
So, I had to build a new engine, I went with the 545 comp cam from 440 source, ported 906 heads, Arias(I think) pistons .060 over the machine shop guy ordered, I told him pump gas.
850 speed demon that ran great on my old 440. It bogs out right around 4000 if I stomp on it, but if I ease into it...
I bought some heads that have had some portwork, then had a shop put my MP springs on them good for .600. I got the comp cams 545 cam and rebuilt the speed demon 850 The thing ran shitty and after driving it for about a hundred miles I opened it up, reved up slow, then all the sudden bent six...
Hey, I blew a head gasket and wrecked my block and one head (440). I found a 76 motorhome engine complete with 76 x miles, though I'll need to bore it anyway. Do you guys know what heads might be on it, and if they would be ok to run on a street car that sees the track one or two weekends a...
I think I know what you will all say, but I wonder if I can get away with not balancing my rotating assembly with new pistons. It's a 71 440 with a steel crank. Trying to keep the budget down, and get some power back in this thing.
I have a 70 RR with a 440 (stock bottom, 509 cam, 915 heads) and it recently started blowing a lot of oil out of the even side tailpipe. I ran it for 2 minutes, now I have to wash the wife's van that was parked behind it. Did I break a ring or is it a valve seal or something? I probably won't...
Mopars in the Park at the Dakota count fair grounds was AWESOME this year. they almost set a record for the most late model challengers in their cruise. It's my favorite swap/car show of the year. Picked up several things I needed for the Road runner. Were any of you guys there?
