Had the same problem on my 69 RR 440 MSD ignition. Eventually wouldn't start at all. Turned out to be ground wire from MSD box at
negative terminal. It was completely corroded under MSD ground wire connection and was not visible because of connector cover. Found by accident when I cut terminal...
Correct way would be to drill and ream a couple of thousandths undersize for correct bushing length for better shaft support and longer wear of bushing.

Have two Roadrunners, 69 is complete and the 73 is in process waiting for finish bodywork to be
completed. I did all the butt welding and making of most of the panels except for rear partial panels
behind fender well. Both are 440 cars with 4 speeds.
