    In pics: 1,2,3,5, and 6, there are swirl marks indicating the heads WERE milled. In pics:3,4,7,8,9, and 10, the marks are horizontal (left to right) indicating that the block was not cut. Look at the heads and you will see the swirl cut marks from milling. I am curious about the large black...

    Finding top dead center with a 9/16 wrench

    Remove the #1 spark plug, cover hole with finger and turn the crank with the ratchet. When you feel compression, keep turning clockwise until the next balancer mark lines up with the timing mark on the timing cover and you are now at TDC on the firing stroke.

    UNDERNEATH, there is tons of room. If your gonna lay on the ground to turn a torque converter wrench, you can lay on the ground to properly turn the crank bolt. Nevermind, already established... 9/16" on the pully bolts (200 in/lb), usually 1 1/4" on the crank bolt (135 ft/lb).

    There is just one, under the rear main cap (SBC also has one). It is usually a 9/16" freeze plug, measure it to be sure.
