I'll agree with that. Been racing 1/4 mile for decades using Dextron. Back in the 90's I tried a season with type F on a new rebuild. I really couldn't tell if the trans shifted firmer (4000+ stall converter) but end of season teardown revealed beat up brass with type F.
Never again.
So I found myself a distributor (383) and took it apart and cleaned it up good. When driving the rollpin that holds the nylon collar she decided to let go. Anyone got a lead of where one can acquire one?

I was about 12 for 12 until 3 years ago. I built a bit spicy 350 Chevy, with a hydraulic cam/lifters with around 0.5" lift. Exhaust cam lobe #8 got wiped out pretty quickly (Summit cam). I replaced it with a similar Comps cam and everything was fine after break-in.

Really can't go wrong with a factory distributor that isn't worn out. The only issue that I've seen on a distributor machine is the spark scatter. The timing of each cylinder will vary +/- 1.5° from cylinder #1.
