62 3 Speed Manual Trans. Leak

I just took the nuts off to (possibly) drain it out quicker if that’s the issue here. Oil steadily dripping out of one of them as we speak. Observation: the stamped cutouts on each side of trans. mount were plugged with grease old dirt/too. I cleaned a few of them out…oil flowing out there too...

62 3 Speed Manual Trans. Leak

Are you saying the trans. mount caught some of the oil that poured out when I took speedo. cable out ?…and it’ll just take some time for all of it to empty? There’s a rubber block to absorb vibrations in there correct? Anything else? Just seems like it’s been dripping too long now…for just the...

62 3 Speed Manual Trans. Leak

Hi guys, 1962 Belvedere 318, 3 Speed Manual Transmission has leak coming right off bottom of transmission mount. I had speedo cable out recently to lube/put back in and replaced o-ring and it started leaking off transmission mount afterwards… BUT…there’s no apparent leak right above at speedo...

    VIN

Still going on in 64 huh? That’s very interesting. My 58 Plymouth and 58 DeSoto do not have it. Which model is the 21? My “32” is a (1962) Belvedere 2 door sedan which they made only about 3500 of. Most 2 door sedans were Savoys…I do believe.

    VIN

That’s good to know. Thank you for sharing that info. I really wouldn’t have known unless I needed to do a pencil tracing of it (today for guy buying it from me). I didn’t have an issue registering it in my state when I bought it years ago…but the state DMV that the buyer lives in requires it...

    VIN

Hi guys, Quick question…my 1962 Plymouth…just made an observation re: my VIN plate which is on driver door jamb/lower A-pillar. First two digits appear to be stamped from above…last 8 digits appear to be stamped from backside of plate. Is this right? Did Chrysler do this at factory…I hope? Had...

Hello Everyone, Thanks in advance for taking a look at this post. Correct 2 barrel carburetor for 1962 Plymouth Belvedere

Thanks guys…that helps a lot. I appreciate it. Yeah, something is just not right. Last comment by Dave is exactly what I’ve been thinking. Always thought best way to find vac. leak is to spray WD-40 around intake/carb. area…if idle picks up there’s the leak. I did so…but can’t find anything...

    1962 Plymouth 318 oil leak

Just a follow up…70522 gasket worked great. Torqued to 50 ft lbs. no leaks…Engine is tight now except for very minor seepage from valve covers. Thank you to all who posted and helped me. I really appreciate it. So nice to look under car now and NOT see several puddles of oil.
