I started liking mopar when my dad purchased a Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge car dealership in 1965. He owned it until I think 71, and I saw a lot of fun cars. The big Chrysler and Imperials cruisers were true luxury. But the Plymouth Cuds, roadrunners, GTX's and Dodge Superbee's, Darts GTS's, and chargers were the best.
I was 14 or 15 and the school bus would drop me off from junior high at the dealership. I was the cleanup guy (kid) and was allowed to drive the cars in to wash and detail. Dad allowed me to drive them all, can imagine that happening today.
By 5pm all the customer cars were out and the mechanics hot rods were in. I watched dad take a Daytona 500 with a 440 and a hemi cornet RT and bastardized both of them because he wanted the hemi in his Daytona. The dealership was beteen 2 hills and a 1.5 mile flat straight away between which was used for their private drag strip. I probably falsely remember a AAR Cuda pulling the front wheels off the ground right off the car Carrier.
Glad to finally update my data.
I have owned my charger for probably 20 years and just have recently been able to to drive it. Same old story, raise the kids and a family. But now retired from Real Estate developing with time to enjoy my hobbys.
