I think a NOS one is about $275 on flea bay, so need to weigh up options. I also vote for trying to rebuild it yourself before sending it out.

Since it is a 318 car and it is a student project, I would be inclined to stick a 392 crate engine and silver sport 5 speed transmission depending of your budget. I am sure that it would push the value higher in this car than a base 318. Food for thought.

Is it a factory original sending unit or an aftermarket one? Typically, aftermarket re pop’s are junk and will read wrong. I have heard that Vans are now doing an accurate repop, but have not tried them myself.

I shower everyday. I agree with 1 Wild R/T, when I go out in public and smell other peoples filth, it is quite repulsive.

I have a TanksInc tank and sender as well. The sender is very accurate. The only issue I have with it is that the level will fluctuate a little when full. Tank is baffled, but doesn't eliminate all of the sloshing.
