That's really surprising. The track I ran at was very sketchy. But with MT pro bracket radials I never spun. Was as fast as 1.49 in the 60' and 6.95 in the 1/8. It's a street strip car and she is a heavy B(4200lbs with me in it). The PBR's last long time. Mine are at least 5 seasons old. The...
I've been running the PBR's since 2020. They have well over 250 runs. I barely haze the tire. In the time I've spun twice on the line and it was my fault (partially out of the groove). I've had great results on all manmer of track from Magnolia, Quaker, Summit and 42.
My car isn't a high HP deal...
I would have to agree. I used a Hughes cam in 2002, no problems with break in and ran it for a couple seasons. Still not many runs due to family events and wk. Maybe 150 total. The cam didn't wear out but Hughes springs were toast. Never hd springs wear so fast.
To the original post, we have...
We ran this cam extensively in the early 80's. A couple things we found
1) with 906 heads it liked timing. We ran at 38 for best results. You are there.
2)it likes rpm, meaning it was an absolute dog until about 4200.
We tried 3500 as DC suggested but found 4500 was best and 410 gears.
3) we had...
On my 512 the starter clearance was like 1/8" of an inch. Bought some lava wrap took it apart and the put it over the areas in question and between the starter. Its been that way for 8 seasons. No issues. But I was very concerned when I got the headers.
For me I could never get a Hurst or B&M shifter to wk without melting the cable. This was back in the late 80's. Put in a turbo action and have never had an issue. Same shifter and cable going on 38 yrs now.
Correct, the AR Engineering plate is too thick.
My options are going to be space out the bracket or mill some off the plate where the bracket hits. Just wanted to see what people did or is best approach.
For those that use a jesel front drive distributor and a AR Engineering motor plate. What did did you do to get the plate to fit. By that I mean once gaskets are on the plate it will not fit behind the front drive.
Did you spot race the rear of the plate or space the front drive bracket. Just...
Just did exactly that Doug. Bubba was great to work with. Picked converter last week. Won't know how it works until next summer some time.
I know a few friends running one and they ar very pleased with the performance.
I have to agree with Doug and others about Lightning Carbs. Mark straightened out my E85 1050. Before he worked on it I couldn't even get the wagon to leave the line.
Mark had me bring my carb to him while I was wintering in Florida. I figured I would drop it off go over the problems and pick...
5500 is where it runs the fastest. Both in the 1/8th and 1/4.
In the 1/4 I was crossing the stripe right at 5950-6000. The old girl is pretty much all out. of steam at 5800. That's with the taller tires. With the PBR's its closer to 6300.
It would be real close. At Norwalk ran a 7.01 in the 1/8 and a 11.049 in the 1/4 at a almost 122.mph.
One problem I run into is when I run the 1/4 I have to switch to bias ply slicks that are 29.5 tall vs the Mickey PBR's which are 28" tall. The 60' suffers a little and its usually 1.53-1.54.
