I wasn't clear. When I posted "Some shots of the engine bay though I will point out that I've since gone back to using a mechanical fuel pump instead of the Carter electric I had. For whatever reason, the electric would work alright until I drove the car on a warm day...The only way to get it...
After yet another rebuild, the car ran great for several hundred miles. So well in fact that I took it to the paint shop to have it sprayed. Drove perfectly on the way home for about 50 miles and then I roll up to a stop sign and it starts idling rough and generally being fussy. It never...
I did purchase another carburetor over dealing with the original. The throttle plates looked fine when I got it but I did not actually check the clearances. Were they leaking air, that would cause an erradic idle and lean out the the fuel mixtures at idle?
This week I pulled the top plate off...
I've noticed a peculiar behavior with the Polara's carburetor since I've had it and I'm curious if this is a known issue in Mopar circles. I tried searching but I didn't find exactly what I was hunting. My issue seems to be that my accelerator pump is leaking. It still works to squirt fuel on...
Snapped a few quick pictures today while I was wiping down the engine bay. Thought I'd share. I've put another 1000 miles or so on the car since I got it back together. Ended up replacing the carburetor along with the radiator. Car is absolutely solid now. I'm getting 18mpg too which I'm...
I just wanted to post a quick follow up which is hopefully the end all resolution to my trouble. I ended up ordering a Champion radiator, CC1635 with a 19x22 core. I couldn't justify the difference with the more expensive radiators for what is just a pedestrian daily driver sedan. A friend of...
Well, owning one requires you to work on it or be independently wealthy. I've done some jobs for other local owners in the past as well since a lot of shops won't touch the car. I don't hang out with the dmc crowd as a whole though. The UK guys are cool and there are a handful of gearhead...
To the plus, I'm not worried about satisfying the purists. My preference is to aluminum simply for its heat transfer properties and I think bare metal looks cool. Here is a quick pic of one of my other cars:
I'll check out the 1800 radiators and Glen Ray, thank you for the heads up.
As it is, I'm unable to find another shop within 50 miles of me that will look at the radiator. I think I'm going to get one of these and modify the mounting brackets to accomodate the car...
I'm not sure what they did because the only information I got back from them was "We looked at your radiator and it isn't possible to save it." I'd have thought any competent radiator shop would have been able to recore the radiator, these guys don't fit the bill is all.
What I do know is that...
Thank you for the kind words. Just recently the drivetrain was pulled so that all of the seals and gaskets could be replaced. While it was out I decided to clean it up and paint it so that the rest of the car would look as good as the interior...which is the reason I bought the car to begin...
While what brought me to post to the forum was a question regarding radiator interchangeability; I thought it rude not to offer an actual introduction.
I sling code for a living, mostly work on GM mobiles in my spare time but I handle DeLorean stuff too. My 64 Polara is my first product from...
This is not how I typically introduce myself to new message forums but I'm stuck and I need help.
A little background - I have a 1964 Polara 4 door with a 318 motor and automatic transmission. I bought the car to be my daily driver back in September and have been lurking here ever since...
