Is it only making the noise while accelerating? If so, could be pinging/detonation.

To be honest, if the first one (black Cordoba) worked out, for $500, I'd go ahead and buy the the other cordoba for parts later on. The price is right.

I have a 65 and plan on doing the same thing, I've been told thats the way to go, but I haven't actually done it yet.

I third that opinion, the performer RPM is a great intake. I'd also look into getting 3:23 gears if at all possible, unless you do allot of interstate driving. But thats just me.
