When you loosen the bolts, you of course then have a little play, but you hold/pry the starter over a little as soon as you draw up the bolts, that pulls it right back even if you try to hold/pry it over at the same time. And yes, I think that is some damage to the gear that has occurred from...
New member and not real good with a computer. The ring gear at the bottom of the bell housing is only about 1/4" from gear to housing. Converter seems to measure 11.5" with 130 teeth. Does that seem correct?
Do you think that the new torque converter/ring gear could possibly be faulty? Like the gear is not machined properly? Because it really looks like the starter gear is too close to the ring gear. When I hook up a starter button directly from the battery to the starter, I hit the button about 6...
