I think I just screwed myself here, shaft seal r&r…

It looks like I can see the end of it, any chance you can carefully fish it back out with a magnet?

Winter off season project engine compartment “clean up” and engine repaint.

I'm gonna be one of those folks for a little while, with reconditioning of chrome bits following later. We will get there eventually though! The car was pulled apart nearly 13 years ago, so at this point we are keeping the primary focus on drivable. Trim and bumpers will be cleaned up, but we...

Winter off season project engine compartment “clean up” and engine repaint.

Very solid advice. Thankfully I've been collecting the parts over the past year and a half, at this point we are mostly at the stage where we are putting it all together. Even did fresh weatherstripping and window seals.

What other Car projects that are non Mopar does anyone have going on right now?

It is fun seeing all of the non-mopar projects everyone has going on. This is mine, a 1992 500SL. This car is the interesting driver that reminds me why I like cars while we grind through the Road Runner restoration project.

Winter off season project engine compartment “clean up” and engine repaint.

The next trip out to work on mine will be in late Feb, and we have a few goals: - Paint/assemble the dash - Front suspension rebuild - Brakes - Recover front seat - New wheels/tires With any luck we will be at a "minimally viable" running/driving car by the time I leave after that trip...

Winter off season project engine compartment “clean up” and engine repaint.

I can't blame you for not wanting to be on the garage floor. My dad and I are pretty focused on getting our '74 Road Runner on the street by the spring, but after sitting for about 10yrs I am fully expecting that I'll be dealing with similar leaks. At this point we just need the thing drivable...

Looks like you're making great progress, even with the setback due to the bolt!

That is clean! You're really going all out now that you have it on a rotisserie. It has been a lot of fun following along with your progress.

I just tossed a thermostat in mine too, the car sat for a while so it was not looking fantastic. Really loving this project!

I've been taking a similar approach to preventative maintenance as well lately. Quality seems to have really dropped off on replacement parts.

That looks great! Having dealt with similar spots on my own car, you all did a fantastic job. Can't even tell.

    Dad's First Car - '74 Road Runner

It was a short trip, but a successful one. We got the car starting with the key, and it moves under its own power again. We got the big panels hung, and the rest of the parts of the car have been reunited with it so that my dad can tinker with it in his free time until my next trip out in late...

    Dad's First Car - '74 Road Runner

After the fenders, we reinstalled the hood, and spent some time fussing over the gaps. It has been incredibly satisfying to see panels like the hood and the doors fitting better than they have at any point in our ownership of the car: After that, it was time to open up some of the totes of...
