I had another crank avaliable to use. I know very little about the internals of engines. I was more curious when my builder seemed a little stumped. I finally got around to digging out the photos and asking the experts here. It sounds like it probably would have been ok to use if I had to...
I appreciate all the info guys. I know nothing cept the basics with all this motor stuff. My engine builder said he wasn't comfortable using this crank and I had another one that looked brand new. I was just looking for some insight. And I'm thinking maybe my father knew all this and that's...
Hello all. When I had my 440 built a couple years ago, the shop called me to come look at the crank.... I do not have any info on the motor prior to me inheriting the whole project from my father.....it appeared someone had ground down parts of it. The builder guessed maybe someone did it to...
Here's the whole label. I have googled this and summit does or did have this spec cam. What I was curious about was how those spec numbers compared to a 68 440 in a gtx or something. The motor is built and I've been driving the car for a couple years. I'm more than happy with its...
Hello all. I have a 68 roadrunner with a 440 in it. I inherited it from my father as a project and finished the car and had the motor built with all the parts that he had accumulated. I'm hoping that someone can decipher the cam that's in the motor. Im just curious as to how it compares to a...
Ya this car was my dad's and he painted it and did a lot of the work and had accumulated most of the parts. Just a couple things like this cap make me scratch my head. Lol. The tank is vented and your right the cap is not. I just ordered a cap that's supposed to be stock. Well see. Lol
It's the cap on my roadrunner that my dad bought 20 years ago. I just assumed it was correct. It seems to fit snug when screwed on. However last weekend I had the car at an establishment and I was parked nose up on a slight incline with a full gas tank and a little gas leaked out on the ground...
The gas cap on my 68 roadrunner is deeper than any others I've seen. The rubber seal inside is not very rubbery anymore so I am buying a new one. When I started looking all the ones I've saw including NOS are real thin compared to mine. I'm just curious as to what mine came off of if anybody knows
Is there a way to tell by looking at a new one if they are locked ? I was thinking about putting for or five tack welds around it but I don't want to melt anything inside. Bottom line for probably next 3 years or so I'm gonna be paranoid as hell everytime I touch the brakes
I feel the same however the one on the car when I got it had a sticker that said remanufactured on it as well. I'm wondering if no matter where you buy do they all come from the same place nowadays?
I didn't think the pushrod was an issue. I'm pretty sure it was adjusted correctly. And I had been driving the car for 3 months with no problem. When something happens especially something weird like this I try to rule out myself lol. Nobody I've shown these pictures to or anyone who was at...
